1/4. Conjunctival inclusion cyst following sub-Tenon's local anaesthetic injection.

    Sub-Tenon's local anaesthesia has become a popular technique of infiltrative anaesthesia for small incision cataract surgery. We report the development of an inclusion cyst of the conjunctiva following this technique. The aetiology of this complication and how it can be avoided are discussed.

2/4. Unexpected difficult intubation. Asymptomatic epiglottic cysts as a cause of upper airway obstruction during anaesthesia.

    Two cases of asymptomatic epiglottic cysts which presented as partial upper airway obstruction following induction of anaesthesia are described. The incidence, pathology and anaesthetic management are discussed.

3/4. High frequency jet ventilation for bilateral bullectomy.

    This case report describes the use of high frequency jet ventilation for resection of bilateral lung bullae. Low airway pressures reduced the risk of pulmonary barotrauma. A continuous infusion of ketamine provided acceptable anaesthesia.

4/4. Epiglottic cyst aspiration before induction of anaesthesia.

    Vallecular cysts are uncommon and usually do not produce significant symptoms. A case history with problems of inducing general anaesthesia for excision of the cyst were avoided by aspirating the cyst before induction is discussed.
