1/11. Colorectal cancer recurrence during pregnancy--unique and poorly understood clinical entity: report of a case.

The detection of primary or recurrent colorectal cancer during pregnancy is a rare event. early diagnosis is difficult, because symptoms are often attributed to pregnancy. Here we describe a case of recurrent adenocarcinoma of the colon in a 23-year-old pregnant patient. The relationship between various hormonal and immunological changes of pregnancy and colorectal cancer is discussed.

2/11. Carcinoma of the axillary breast.

Axillary breast is one of the varieties of polymastia which is characterized by the presence of more than 2 breasts. It may cause symptoms during pregnancy, lactation, or in the premenopausal period. Unless there are obvious symptoms of lactation or the assistance of further imaging studies such as mammography and breast ultrasound, the diagnosis is often confused with subcutaneous lipoma. The incidence of axillary breast cancer is low but it should be investigated and treated properly in view of another breast cancer in the embryonic milk-line. In this paper we reviewed 4 cases of axillary breast cancer and documented some articles regarding aberrant breast and carcinoma arising from it. It is suggested that subcutaneous nodules of uncertain origin around the periphery of the breast should be viewed with suspicion and treated properly.

3/11. urinary bladder carcinoma as apparent cause of antepartum haemorrhage in pregnancy.

A 34-year-old multipara presented with painless profuse genital bleeding during the third trimester of pregnancy in a state of hemorrhagic shock. Haematuria because of urinary bladder carcinoma was found to be the cause of bleeding. cystoscopy was useful for accurate diagnosis as well as for achieving haemostasis. This case emphasizes the possibility and importance of haematuria when dealing with a patient with antepartum haemorrhage.

4/11. Synchronous mucinous adenocarcinoma of the endometrium and mucinous cystadenoma of bilateral ovaries presenting during fertility therapy.

We describe a very rare case of synchronous mucinous tumor of the endometrium and ovaries presenting during ovulation induction. A 31-year-old woman received ovulation induction for 5-year primary infertility. ultrasonography revealed mucus retention in the uterine cavity and bilateral multicystic ovaries during ovulation induction. Atypical hyperplasia was diagnosed by endometrial curettage. Repeated procedures including ovarian cystectomy, endometrial curettage and in vitro fertilization combined with progestine therapy resulted in no pregnancy but rapid recurrences. She finally underwent simple hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. Microscopic examination revealed mucinous cystadenoma in the both ovaries and well differentiated mucinous adenocarcinoma of the endometrium.

5/11. adenocarcinoma with peritoneal dissemination secondary to multiple mature teratomas of the omentum.

BACKGROUND: Teratomas of the greater omentum are rare. In most cases, they are composed of mature tissue elements and behave clinically in a benign fashion. CASE: A 62-year-old woman with a history of bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy due to ectopic pregnancy was found to have multiple cystic teratomas of the omentum. There was a histologic evidence of a sequential transition from benign through borderline to obviously invasive adenocarcinoma within the lining of the cysts as well as peritoneal dissemination. CONCLUSION: We defined the present case as malignant transformation of a mature teratoma, but have no evidence whatsoever for the origin of multiple mature teratomas. Further detailed analyses with more elaborated procedures on many relevant reports would be required to establish the origin and biologic behavior of teratomas of the omentum.

6/11. Gastrointestinal signet ring carcinoma metastatic to the cervix during pregnancy. A case report.

Extragenital carcinoma metastatic to the cervix is uncommon. In such a case a complication not previously described occurred in association with pregnancy: gastrointestinal signet ring carcinoma metastatic to the cervix. The entity was initially detected on a histologic examination of cervical biopsy specimens and was confirmed with gastric endoscopic biopsies, thereby preventing an exploratory laparotomy. The patient declined palliative chemotherapy.

8/11. Ovarian malignancies in pregnancies complicated by colonic perforation.

Primary or secondary ovarian carcinoma in pregnancy is very rare. The entity is difficult to diagnose and is not infrequently fatal. Two unusual cases of ovarian carcinoma during pregnancy, complicated by perforation of the colon, are described. Treatment depends upon the time of diagnosis, the stage of growth, and possible complications. More attention should be paid to complaints concerning bowel function during pregnancy, and pelvic sonography and bowel studies may enable earlier diagnosis.

9/11. Vena occlusive disease simulated by a metastasis of gastric cancer during pregnancy.

A 20-year-old woman was treated because of her complaint and symptoms which were thought to be the results or complication of her pregnancy. Based on the cardinal symptom inferior cavography was carried out, and the diagnosis of occlusion of inferior vena cava was established. The woman was treated accordingly but died after a short period. The patient's family supposed neglection and therapeutic misadventure and raised an objection to the medical treatment. Forensic autopsy was carried out to clear up the case. autopsy showed her basic disease to be gastric cancer with several metastases in the liver. One of them was in the lobus caudatus Spigeli and compressed the inferior vena cava. The compression caused a turbulence in the given contrast material so that thrombosis was suggested. The diagnosis was based on this misleading sign. Negligence was not verified.
