1/7. CT findings of head and neck anomalies in lacrimo-auriculo-dento-digital (LADD) syndrome.

We present computed tomography (CT) findings of a boy with lacrimo-auriculo-dento-digital (LADD) syndrome. Bilateral lacrimal glands were not detected and CT imaging of this abnormality in LADD syndrome has not been reported before. Despite suggestions from previous reports of multiple temporal bone abnormalities resulting in hearing losses in these patients, only minor temporal bone abnormalities were seen in our deaf-mute patient. Dysplasia of salivary glands was noted. CT findings of head and neck abnormalities in LADD syndrome are discussed.

2/7. Botulinum toxin for palliative treatment of epiphora in a patient with canalicular obstruction.

OBJECTIVE: To describe the use of botulinum toxin injection of the lacrimal gland for palliative treatment of epiphora secondary to canalicular obstruction from docetaxel therapy. DESIGN: Case report. INTERVENTION: A 50-year-old female with bilateral canalicular obstruction secondary to docetaxel therapy received botulinum toxin injections (5 units each) into the lacrimal glands of both eyes. RESULTS: Symptomatic epiphora of the affected eyes was reduced after 2 weeks. No side effects were observed. CONCLUSIONS: Botulinum toxin injection of the lacrimal gland is an effective palliative treatment for epiphora secondary to canalicular obstruction from docetaxel therapy.

3/7. An eyelash nidus for dacryoliths of the lacrimal excretory and secretory systems.

We treated two patients with dacryolithiasis secondary to an eyelash. The first patient underwent dacryocystorhinostomy for a stone within the lacrimal sac. In the second patient the dacryolith was removed from a lacrimal gland ductule. eyelashes found in the tear film or conjunctival fornices during routine examination should be removed to prevent the possible occurrence of dacryolithiasis.

4/7. Bilateral lacrimal duct cyst.

Reports of lacrimal gland cysts have been rare, and mostly of small, unilateral cysts of the palpebral lobes. An unusual case of bilateral, large acquired cysts of the orbital lobe of the lacrimal glands is presented. Pathologic examination showed chronic inflammation and fibrosis of the lacrimal gland structures. We suggest that prolapse of the lacrimal glands with obstruction of the lacrimal ducts, combined with chronic dacryoadenitis, led to cyst formation.

5/7. Lacrimo-auriculo-dento-digital syndrome: a literature review and case reports.

Lacrimo-auriculo-dento-digital syndrome, which has an autosomal-dominant pattern of inheritance, typically affects the lacrimal apparatus, ears, teeth, and hands. More recent case reports have uncovered involvement of the kidneys and the respiratory and skeletal systems. Salivary gland malformation may also be a feature of the syndrome, leading to dry mouth. The characteristics of the syndrome vary among individuals, but dental anomalies seem to be prevalent. Microdontia and hypodontia occur, possibly with gray enamel, wear, and caries. This case report introduces a new three-generation family of six individuals affected with lacrimo-auriculo-dento-digital syndrome and concentrates on the dental presentation and management of two of the members.

6/7. The lacrimo-auriculo-dento-digital syndrome.

A mother and son had an autosomal-dominant malformation syndrome that included absence of the lacrimal puncta, obstruction of the nasolacrimal ducts, hearing loss, poor dentition, and abnormal thumbs. The son also had severe hypertension with renal anomalies and absence of several salivary glands. Affected members of the only other reported family also had cup-shaped ears and synostosis of the radius and ulna. Early recognition of this disorder is important because of the possibility that the affected infant may have hearing loss and kidney malformations.

7/7. pseudomonas dacryoadenitis secondary to a lacrimal gland ductule stone.

Infectious dacryoadenitis is a rare condition. A case of pseudomonas dacryoadenitis has not been reported previously. We treated a patient with pseudomonas dacryoadenitis secondary to obstruction from a lacrimal gland ductule stone. Histologically, the calculus contained hairs.
