11/13. Human orf infection complicated by erythema multiforme.

    A 35-year-old woman developed an orf infection of the fingers after contact with an infected goat. Following the primary orf infection, erythema multiforme developed and was controlled with prednisone. The association between erythema multiforme and orf is discussed; also, it is noted that orf is another viral condition that should be added to the agents that can initiate erythema multiforme.

    Human Orf is an uncommon viral disease acquired through contact with infected sheep and goats. We report five cases of human Orf acquired while preparing mutton. The clinical picture and the management of human Orf are presented. awareness of the benign nature of the condition is important in preventing ill-advised therapy.

13/13. orf virus infection in pregnancy.

    orf virus infection is endemic among sheep and goats, and can occur in humans who handle these animals. orf virus infection in humans causes a characteristic skin lesion, and systemic symptoms can occur. Very little is known about orf virus infection in human pregnancy. A case of orf virus infection, with onset at 33 weeks gestation, is presented. There were no pathological findings in the infant born at term, or in the placenta.
