1/16. lung cancer in pregnancy: case reports and review of the literature.

lung cancer diagnosed in pregnancy is rare. The number of reported cases has been escalating in recent years, probably reflecting the increasing number of women of reproductive age who smoke. This review presents three cases of lung cancer in pregnancy with different manifestations and outcomes, with a review of the literature. physicians should have a low threshold using different diagnostic tools for investigating unusual symptoms during pregnancy without fear for fetal safety. Once diagnosed, lung cancer represents a major ethical and medical dilemma. The optimal management of lung cancer in pregnancy is not known, because of the rarity of the cases reported during pregnancy and insufficient follow-up data.

2/16. Evolutive peritoneal disease after conservative management and the use of infertility drugs in a patient with stage IIIC borderline micro-papillary serous carcinoma (MPSC) of the ovary: case report.

A young nulliparous woman with stage IIIC bilateral borderline micro-papillary serous carcinoma (MPSC) of the ovary underwent conservative surgery with optimal preservation of future fertility. The left ovary and a substantial portion of the right ovary were removed. The patient became pregnant at the first IVF cycle attempted after conservative management. A cesarean section was performed in the 37th week of pregnancy and combined with very precise exploration; there were multiple non-invasive implants on the peritoneal surface and liver, and contra-lateral ovarian tissue was of normal appearance. Abdominal hysterectomy and right oophorectomy were done as a definitive treatment 3 months after the Caesarean section. The patient showed a rapid progression to invasive ovarian carcinoma in this period of time. MPSC has the greatest risk of malignant transformation among the advanced stage serous borderline tumours. Fertility-sparing surgery is an option for young, childless women who would like to preserve their fertility. However, the treatment must be taken very cautiously and requires rigorous surveillance.

3/16. Mucinous cystic neoplasm of the pancreas during pregnancy: the importance of proper management.

We describe a case of huge mucinous cystic tumor of the pancreas in a 26-year-old woman during pregnancy. ultrasonography demonstrated a well-delimited cystic mass in the left upper abdominal quadrant, suggestive of benignity. magnetic resonance imaging showed a large cystic mass resembling a mucinous cystic tumor of the pancreas. After this assessment the patient underwent surgical exploration and a huge cystic tumor of the pancreas was discovered. The tumor was enucleated and distal pancreatectomy was performed. The resected margin of the specimen was free of tumor. In this case report we discuss the management of mucinous pancreatic tumors during pregnancy and we briefly review the previously reported cases of mucinous pancreatic tumors in pregnant patients. We conclude that surgical resection of these tumors should be strongly considered in pregnancy. Removal of the tumor appears to be a safe procedure without harmful effects to the fetus.

4/16. Successful pregnancy after conservative surgery for ovarian papillary serous cystadenocarcinoma of low malignant potential.

Conservative surgery was performed on a 28-year-old patient with an ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma of low malignant potential who became pregnant one year later. The good prognosis of these tumours makes conservative surgical management the treatment of choice when preservation of child-bearing potential is deemed appropriate.

5/16. Parovarian cystadenocarcinoma of low malignant potential.

Malignant parovarian tumors are rare, with only 20 cases previously reported. Only eight of these were cystadenocarcinomas of low malignant potential and only two had both mucinous and serous components. In this article, we report the third case of a parovarian cystadenocarcinoma with both serous and mucinous components--A 26-year-old female who was treated by conservative surgery and later carried a pregnancy to term. prognosis and management of these lesions are discussed.

7/16. A case of ovarian cystadenocarcinoma associated with pregnancy.

A case of ovarian cystadenocarcinoma associated with pregnancy is reported. The semicystic left ovarian tumor was found in a 28-year-old woman, gravida 2, para 1 at 33 weeks' gestation. A primary cesarean section, total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy followed by chemotherapy were performed. The histological examination revealed the tumor to be a serous cystadenocarcinoma. The patient and infant have both remained well and free of disease for the eight years which have elapsed since the therapy started.

8/16. A successful term pregnancy following the systemic and intraperitoneal administration of cisplatin chemotherapy.

The advent of successful chemotherapy has improved the prognosis and long-term disease-free survival for many patients with a variety of malignancies. Preservation of reproductive function in female patients is now possible with conservative surgery in certain selected malignancies. Successful pregnancies following chemotherapy or ovarian cancer have been reported. This is the first reported case of a term pregnancy following the systemic and intraperitoneal administration of cisplatin chemotherapy in the treatment of ovarian cancer.

9/16. Cis-platinum combination chemotherapy during pregnancy for advanced epithelial ovarian carcinoma.

Epithelial carcinoma of the ovary, a rare complication of pregnancy, was diagnosed at 16 weeks' gestation after presentation as an acute abdomen. Exploration with conservative surgery was done, and cis-platinum-based combination chemotherapy was administered for the remainder of the pregnancy. Induction and vaginal delivery resulted in a successful outcome for mother and fetus. Postpartum laparotomy was negative.
