Artery formed by the bifurcation of the internal carotid artery (carotid artery, internal). Branches of the anterior cerebral artery supply the caudate nucleus; internal capsule; putamen; septal nuclei; gyrus cinguli; and surfaces of the frontal lobe and parietal lobe.
