Found this using Yahoo search: Amelogenesis Imperfecta is a rare inherited disorder characterized by brown discoloration of the teeth, resulting from a lack calcium (hypocalcification) or underdevelopment (hypoplasia) of the hard outer covering of teeth (enamel). The disorder is divided into numerous forms based on the severity of the enamel defect (e.g., complete absence [agenesis], underdevelopment, etc.). Individuals with Amelogenesis Imperfecta may be prone to early tooth loss and/or disease of the structures that surround and support the teeth (periodontal disease). Amelogenesis Imperfecta may be inherited as an X-linked, autosomal dominant, or autosomal recessive genetic trait, depending on the form present.

Am I the only one who has amelogenesis imperfecta?

Am I? I get so angry when I think about it.. I wanna know if anyone else understands what we are going thru..?
for those who don't kno what it is..
Amelogenesis imperfecta is a tooth development disorder in which the teeth are covered with thin, abnormally formed enamel. The enamel of the tooth is soft and thin. The teeth appear yellow and are easily damaged. Both baby teeth and permanent teeth are affected. It can aslo go to your bones.

I was born with it on my baby teeth a little, and when my adult teeth grew in it was way more sevear.. and more sevear then the pic on the wiki link.. it was weird cuz it only affected me for a certain amount of time cuz they was a strip with enamal then without then with.. and u can see when it affected me and when it didn't
I was just wondering if anyone else had it..
@ Jem: Thank you, it does make me feel better.

i am sorry that you have it for it is a serious dental condition to have. if this is going to make you feel any better, NO YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

according to studies in different countries they affect people at a ratio of 1:700 to 1:14,000. so, sweetheart, you are definitely not alone. it is relatively common. how severe are affected by it is what varies. some severely, some much less.  (+ info)

Is Osteogenesis Imperfecta a type of dwafism?

My girlfriend has Osteogenesis Imperfecta and is 4' 4" tall,as you can imagine she is often referred to as a "midget" and other unkind things. So just to help clear this up,I was wondering if she could be concidered a dwarf based on the Osteogenesis Imperfecta, or perhaps her size?
I have tried looking this up online, but there is so much information on Dwarfism and Osteogenesis Imperfecta, that after hours of paging through information that had little or nothing to do with what I was looking for I became a little frustrated with all and decided I needed help looking this up.
Any info you could provide that may help me clear this up would be appreciated very much.
Thank you,
Ben P.

My son has ameliogenesis imperfecta (no enamel on teeth). How much do Veneers costs for children?

We have been told that we have to pay for the veeners as the NHS will only fund 1 veneer. He is only six and is just beginning to have problems at school with bullying. We want to get them done but are shocked that we have to pay for them!
----------

Your son is too young to have veneers on his teeth. You need to wait until they have fully erupted. In the meantime, he should have bonding on his teeth to treat the appearance of them. Bonding is not a permanent "fix" but will last long enough for his other teeth to grow in.

I have no idea what your NHS does or doesn't cover, but bonding is cheaper than veneers, even if you have to pay for now.  (+ info)
