I have never had unprotected sex, but for some reason i have 3 red puss filled dots in my genital area. And i was wondering if it is syphilis and how to get rid of it???
syphilis would usually present with one large sore called a primary chancre, but is curable with penicillin. Get checked out by a doctor.  (+ info)

I have just recently found out that a neighbor had syphilis. Can you help me with some questions??? Hypothetically if my neighbor used the bathroom and did not wash his hands could it be spread that way? Or if someone used his toilet? Basically could it be be spread in any non-sexual way? Thank you so much for anyone who answers my question on posts a good link! I am sorry for my lack of education in the STD department!
Syphilis can be transmitted only by sexual contact or through rare circumstances (e.g. open-wound to open-wound contact, hospital negligence of using HIV-contaminated syringes to patients, etc). Kissing a person with syphilis won't even cause you to be contaminated with the disease. Don't fret unless you have had a sexual intercourse with the person.  (+ info)

Meaning, once syphilis is contracted, how long do you have to get treatment before it kills you? Also, is it possible to receive treatment when symptoms and conditions are at their worse?
yes you can get treatment anytime but why wait. It is a miserable debilitating death that can be easily eliminated. If you wait until the latent stages dementia is an inevitable part of that.  (+ info)

Can a woman pass on syphilis to her newborn without passing it on to her mate?

She tested negative for any STD's and VD's during her testing cycle with her OB/GYN. But, back in May 07 when our newborn was born, Syphilis showed up in his system. She then told me that she had contracted it 7 years earlier but was treated and cured. If that's true, then why didn't she pass it on to me? We did not have sex between Feb 07 and May 07. Could it be possible or likely that she contracted it during that time period since we did not have sex with each other.
if i am correct...syphillis is never really cured. it's treatable but not cure-able. so, maybe she just had a reoccurance of it.

Similar to other STD’s such as Chlamydia, a person that has syphilis can not show any symptoms or the symptoms can go unrecognized. I would love to know the long and short term effects of syphilis!
I was just curious all of a sudden.
Early signs of syphilis are a red/brown rash about the size of a penny that may be on all of your body or just certain parts like the palms of your hands or the bottoms of your feet. This is the most common early symptom. Also headache, mild fatigue, hair loss, and swollen lymph nodes may occur.
Long term symptoms include serious heart abnormalties, mental disorders, blindness, other nuerological symptoms, and sometimes even death.
