I have been diagnosed with dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans of right upper arm. Is it treatable?

Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans has commonly been treated with wide excision, which means the tumor and a large amount of the tissue surrounding it are removed. This procedure involves removing the tumor, then continuing to remove the edges of tissue around the tumor site. After each bit of tissue is removed, it is examined under a microscope for signs of malignant cells. If you have been diagnosed with dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, it is important to maintain your follow-up appointments after treatment. Hi sorry to hear about your friend, I think it has around about 90% chance survival rate with a 30-40% chance of it coming back after standard excision.  (+ info)

If you type it in a search you might find a link to a forum or message board of others. Try typing in different ways as in;
Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberan's. Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans tumor, (and tumor's) . Also try them with "" on the ends for a more specifed search. Changing even a ' and an s can give you different things. I have found cancer information and others with the same cancers I was unable to locate otherwise.  (+ info)

Should I go in for more surgery after having a cyst removed from my forehead?

I just had what I thought was a cyst removed. And it was tested and came back ( dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans) a cancerous tumor. Now they want to go in a second time and make sure that they got it all. I am so scared to go in a second time. But if I don't there is a really good chance it could come back, but then again it may not. I just want some opinions or if someone else out there has been through this please write. AND also aren't they supposed to do a biopsy before going in, so they know what they are messing with.
By the way I am 21.
You forget to mention your age! Any way a fibrosarcoma is an aggressive form of cancer, the doc must go in again to make sure that everythinhg is clean as radiation is not possible because the cancer is at your forehead and radiation would "fry" your brain!! So, do not wait anynmore, go back for the second surgical round!! Best wishes!!  (+ info)

What is a route procedure?

I was diagnosed with a rare cancer called dermatofibrosarcoma putuberan. It is a lump on my back. I was told by the nurse that I will be having a route procedure done to get rid of the malignant cells but the nurse doesn't know exactly what that is. Does anyone out there know what that is?
