my grandmother died of primary amyloidosis?

doctors think i have cryoglobulinemia.
that is linked with amyloidosis.
could i have that even though that type is apparently "not genetic?"
----------

I had to look these up to compare the two. Here's what I found;
Cryoglobulinemia-"Is a medical condition in which the blood contains large amounts or cryoglobulins, which are proteins that become insoluble at reduced temperatures. Cryoglobulins typically precipitate at temperatures below normal body temperatures and will dissolve again if the blood is heated. Cryoglubulinemia can be associated with various diseases such as multiple myeloma and hepatitis C infection,"
Amyloidosis "refers to a variety of conditions in which amyloid proteins are abnormally deposited in organs and/or tissues. A protein is described as being amyloid if, due to an alteration in it's secondary structure, it takes on a particular aggregated insoluble form similar to the beta-pleated sheet. Symptoms vary widely depending upon the site of amyloid deposition. Amyloidosis may be inherited or acquired"
I hope I haven't confused you even more because in all honesty, I'm confused by this.and after all the quotes, I don't understand. I thought maybe I could clear some of this up for you. Perhaps someone else can do a better job. One more thing, my sympathy for your grandmother. I hope you will be alright. God speed  (+ info)

This link to a site I am posting here will answer
all your questions about Hep C. It is the best
one I have ever found on the internet:
http://www.janis7hepc.com/
This will tell you about treatment, other problems
you may encounter, has a support group here,
and about your symptoms.
Someone who has liver problems usually start
out as being extremely tired. With Hep C,
they may feel like they have flu like symptoms,
also. You should be with either a
gastroenterologist or hepatologist now.
With the different medical problems you have,
the doctor is really the only one...based on
your past medical history and results of your
tests...to know what is or isn't safe for you.

Hepatitis means that there is inflammation in
the liver cells. This inflammation has to be
treated in order for the liver cells to heal.
There are many causes of Hepatitis, not just
the viral type like you have. If the
inflammation is not treated, it can lead to
the death of the liver cells and this forms
scar tissue inside the liver...this is then known
as Cirrhosis of the liver. That is a progressive
disease then. I would talk to your doctor about
your treatment and he can adjust the treatment
to help you, personally. He will take into account
any other medical problems you have.

I hope this information has been of some help
to you.
Judy, even if you don't have cirrhosis now,
there is a support group on Yahoo that
may help you. Some of them here have
Hep C and are going through the
treatment themselves... You are welcome
to join the group, it is completely free, and ask any questions you might have or just read the posts.
