Can TCM detect breast cancer? How ? What TCM treatment is used for Paget's disease?

How long does the treatment last?
Are there any side effects?
Where do you buy mistletoe?
----------

It depends on your practitioner's diagnostic abilities; We had 4 years of intensive pulse diagnostic training at our school under one of the leading authorities in pulse diagnosis. I have sent several patients for further testing who were not aware that they might have a problem, who did in deed have breast cancer. Look for a practitioner with extensive training in Shen-Hammer Pulse diagnosis at www.acufinder.com.

Do not self medicate with mistletoe; it is toxic, and you need a medical professional to administer it.  (+ info)

is there any relation between the thyroid problems and Paget's disease?

The patient is of 43 years age had undergone mastectomy in Jan'07 following paget's disease. But in march she has been detected to be suffering from hypothyroidism with T3=40.7 ,T4=0.7 and TSH >150
----------

First of all, I'm not sure why the patient had a mastectomy due to Paget's. Paget's is a disease of the bone. Plus, to correct the other person that answered, It is quite possible to function w/a TSH level of that nature, however it should be addressed by an endocrinologist. Synthroid or another levothyroxine replacement will likely be prescribed. This person should consult his/her physician, especially if they are symptomatic. Being hypo is definitely no fun.  (+ info)

The doctor said I had beginning stage of Paget's disease, what causes it and and can it be severe?

Paget's disease affects the bones. It goes by another name, osteitis. This name implies that it is an infection of the bone. Since it affects members of a family, about 30%, it also implies that there is possibly a genetic link.

If genes are involved, there is usually a trigger that will turn a gene on to cause the problem. Sometimes deficiencies can trigger a gene. Other genes simply turn on and off with bodily events. The famous onca genes that were discovered to turn on at 3 stages of life and then turn off and never turn on again causing growth spurts is a good example of this type of gene. The onca genes were also discovered to turn on in cancer cells causing rapid growth.

The medical community claims they do not know what causes the disease or how to prevent it from happening or progressing. They simply treat the symptoms to make you feel better with drugs.

Without claiming any knowledge of the disease in regard to understanding what causes it or how to prevent it or stop the progression, I would attack the problem by beefing up my immune system, attack biofilm production, and add many herbs to my diet that goes after viruses and bacteria to try and get my body stronger. The body has many mechanisms in it that are quite incredible when it comes to dealing with disease. Drugs are designed in many cases to stimulate the body's immune system to go after particular bugs, but drugs are not very good at attacking this type of problelm.

If this were me that had this problem, I would do everything possible to improve my digestion and immune system. There is a process in the body that is ongoing between the blood calcium, muscles, and bones. This is an ongoing exchange of the calcium between these players and this is due to the fact that the blood calcium levels must be maintained at all costs at a constant level. To maintain this level, if the body is low on calcium in the diet, or the digestion of calcium is inhibited, the muscles first, and then the bones, give up the calcium to the blood to keep this level constant or the person will die.

I would work on maintaining a good blood sugar level and then make sure you have a good supply of minerals in your body to make sure your first morning urine pH levels are between 6.4 and 7.0. This is extremely important when trying to achieve a level of health to fight any disease. If your pH level is low, then each of your cells will not have the energy to fight infections. To bring the pH level up, you will need to consume lots of minerals. One way to do this is to order some product from a company I know who has wonderful supplements that are in the matrix form and from once living sources that contain the good cell resonance that you will need to boost that pH.

The next thing I would do is consume a lot of supplements that are specifically designed to boost the immune system and kill biofilms.

Go to: www.healthline.cc (not .com) and order the following:

Betaine HCL --- Take 3 to 4 of these after each meal
Activator --- Take 2 of these after each meal
Quantum Digest --- Take 2 of these with each meal
DHLA --- Put 2 teaspoons of this in water and sip throughout
the whole day.
Nucleotides --- Take 6 of these per day.
Colostrum --- Take 1 heaping teaspoon in juice or water in
the a.m. and 1 heaping teaspoon in the p.m.
Allicidin --- Take 6 to 8 of these per day.
Oleuropin --- Take 8 to 10 of these per day.

There is no way to know if the above will work for this problem, but it will boost your immune system into high gear and if the virus or bacteria causing the problem is deep in the bone, it will take some time to see results. I would try this regimen for at least 2 months to give it a fair trial. This, I'm sure, sounds like a lot of nutrients, but you are going to need to be aggressive to give your body a chance to become strong against this.

Could I have Paget's Disease of the nipple?

I'm 16 and about two years ago, I had crusting and scaling of my nipples that itched like crazy. They went away after a while and recently came back. The symptoms are still like before. I eczema ( mine are patches of itchy lesions) by the way. Could I have Paget's ( which have symptoms almost similar to mine) or could it just be eczema.. on the nipples? If that exists? Please help!
----------

Paget's is pretty rare and generally affects older women. Nipples can get chapped in cold weather and as you've had eczema and this has happened before, this is most likely eczema. Use whatever you use on your other patches, or you might want to see a dermatologist for some anti-itch cream.

Does Mastectomy is the only option of treatment for Paget"s disease?

whether paget's Disease is cancerous in all cases?
----------

Yes. Paget's disease is cancerous in all cases and Mastectomy is the treatment suggested.

Paget's disease of the breast usually requires surgery. Which type of surgery you need depends on the condition of the skin around your nipple and how advanced the underlying cancer is.

Surgical options include:

Simple mastectomy. This procedure involves removing your breast, but not the lymph nodes in your armpit (axillary lymph nodes). Simple mastectomy is recommended in cases in which an underlying breast cancer exists but it isn't invasive breast cancer and it hasn't spread to the lymph nodes.
Skin-sparing mastectomy. In this procedure, the surgeon makes an incision around your nipple and areola, removes all of the underlying breast tissue, but preserves the overlying skin. Breast reconstruction with breast implants or with your body's own tissue (autologous reconstruction) is usually performed during the same surgery. Skin-sparing mastectomy isn't an option if the skin changes associated with Paget's disease have spread beyond your areola.
Modified radical mastectomy. A modified radical mastectomy is generally recommended if you have invasive breast cancer or extensive in situ breast cancer with spread to the lymph nodes in your armpit. In this procedure, the surgeon removes the breast, the lining of the chest wall muscle and some of your underarm (axillary) lymph nodes. The lymph nodes are checked for signs that the cancer has spread (metastasized).
Lumpectomy. Lumpectomy is a breast-conserving procedure in which the surgeon removes only the diseased portion of your breast. This procedure is generally considered if you have Paget's disease of the breast but no other evidence of underlying breast cancer. Your surgeon makes an incision around your areola, removing it and your nipple along with a wedge- or cone-shaped section of your breast. The surgeon focuses on removing as little breast tissue as possible, while ensuring that the tissue removed includes an outer margin of normal cells so that only healthy cells remain. Lumpectomy to treat Paget's disease of the breast almost always requires follow-up radiation therapy as adjuvant treatment. Lumpectomy wouldn't be recommended if you can't have radiation therapy for some reason. Nipple reconstruction may be an option after your treatment.-  (+ info)

Explain to me why paget disease could cause abnormal pressure on a spinal nerve?

When an area of bone is destroyed in a person with Paget’s disease, the bone that replaces it is soft and porous. Soft bone can be weak and easily bend, leading to shortening of the affected part of the body. This can effect your bones in two ways. 1 - Shortening and bending will put additional pressure on the spinal cord effecting the pressure on the nerves. 2 - When the bone repairs itself it causes the bone to become larger, also creating more pressure on the spinal cord.  (+ info)

Would the eczema-like spots of Paget's disease of the breast show up in areas other than the nipple?

Yes, and when it does, it's called "extra-mammary Paget's". The common place for this to occur is in the perineal area, around the anal area.  (+ info)

Do you, or anyone you know, have Paget's Disease?

I'm typing out a paper about it, and I have the informational stuff down. I would like to get some personal insight about it, especially on a day-to-day basis. Thanks!
----------

Yes, I know someone with Paget's disease. He is 82 years old and first noted that his hats were getting tight on him. He went to his doctor who found he had paget's disease on his skull xray. Now he is having some trouble with his hearing which the doctor says is related to the disease. I looked into the disease and learned it was named after Dr. Paget whose first patient also had trouble with tight fitting hats! Hope that helps. Good luck on your paper!  (+ info)
