Is it possible that I have acromegaly if I am not tall?
I have a class III underbite, macroglossia, large feet, and excessive perspiration. It all matches perfectly with acromegaly except for I'm only 5'5". I'm a 16 year old girl, and I'm getting surgery for the underbite this christmas, but that won't do anything for my tongue (macroglossia).
Do I have acromegaly or something else?

The only way to know for sure is to have your IGF-1 levels checked. Have your Dr. refer you to an Endocrinologist. I am only 5' tall and I have acromegaly, however it didn't set in until my 20's. Get checked out. Better safe than sorry. (

The first diagnosis when i was an infant was that this enlargement is like an extra part that will eventually seem smaller the older i get, since my tongue and mouth will grow. The second diagnosis is a very recent one, claiming that my tongue is not fully developed, that only one of three stages has developed, growing bigger than normal to substitute the other two developmental stages. I wish to know why my tongue looks like this, do other people have the same tongue and whether it is advisable to have an operation to change it?"

By the way it is not ALL THAT big, it still fits inside my mouth and within its normal place.
