Is it true your not supposed to wear latex gloves if you have a open sore on your hands?

I work with Ink solvents at a printing company and they have caused a poison ivy like reaction on my hand. Ive heard that having sores then wearing Latex causes it to get in your blood stream.
----------

I don't think that wearing latex gloves with an open wound allows latex to enter the blod stream, it sounds more like you have developed a latex allergy, you should ask your employer to provide you with non-latex gloves like nitrle or vinyl.  (+ info)

What kinds of lubricant can you use with non latex condoms?

Either just brands or specific names. I'm allergic to latex so we have to switch to that.
----------

Use the same lubricants as you would use with latex....

I use polyurethane condoms, and have used KY Jelly, Astroglide, Target, Walgreen's, and Long's Drugs generic brands. They're all good :)

Just no vaseline!  (+ info)

How harmful is it if a 10mo old eats latex paint of the wall?

I just recently noticed bite marks on my windowsill where my teething son scraped away paint and a little drywall with his teeth. The paint is latex based but I am unsure how harmful it may be. Any help is greatly appreciated!
----------

My son at 22 months still does that. I found bite marks on my windowsill and paint in his mouth. I immediatley Called The Poison Control Help Hotline 1-800-222-1222 and told me that if he is still eating and drinking and not vomiting than he should be fine. They are wonderful over there they will even call you back to check up on your child. Please still call poison control because they ask specific questions to get the correct answer as to what you should do!!  (+ info)

How can I get people to understand the seriousness of my life threatening latex allergy?

I have recently been diagnosed with a life threatening latex allergy. I was rushed to the ER after blowing up a latex balloon (which I have done many times before). I am having a difficult time expressing the severity of this to others. I was told by my allergist this an airborne allergy for me and to remove myself from situations that could possibly trigger a reaction. At work when there is a birthday, which seems like daily, the balloons get blown up and left there for a week in celebration (popping constantly throughout the week). This past week at work, there were balloons around my desk everyday. I can not afford to leave work for five days so others can celebrate their birthdays. Work has told me that they can not ask people to remove the balloons and that I should have enough time to react before it gets too bad. I am afraid to go to work waiting for the day that I will need to use my epi pen. Please help, I'm scared!!!
----------

I totally understand. I have life threatening allergies too, and carry epi-pens all the time.
I've found that some people just don't care. and some have the attitude of, it's not really going to hurt her, it's all in her head. I've heard them all! and I know it's so very frustrating.
you probably just need to take matters into your own hands and tell everyone who has the balloons, hey, your balloons could kill me, and I'm asking you as a fellow human being to please take them out of here. tell them to imagine those balloons are rattle snakes coiled up and ready to strike at them, and there's no anti-venom available for them to use. then tell them that's exactly how dangerous those innocent looking balloons are to you. after hearing that, and putting themselves in the position of being in a life threatening situation, they'll have some compassion and take the balloons away willingly.
Best wishes, and I'll keep you in my prayers.  (+ info)

Anyone ever chewed on latex rubber gloves during pregnancy?

Some people say its harmless, and some say to stop so my baby wont be born with a bad latex allergic reaction. I dont want my newborn to have a skin rash. The rubber taste helps my last trimester morning sickness. I chew on gloves like gum, but I dont swallow. Anyone had a strange habit like this during pregnancy and had a healthy newborn baby?
----------

It sounds like your diet is lacking something that the baby needs. Talk to a doctor. If you make a habit of eating (or chewing) things that are not for human consumption it can often mean a dietary deficiency.  (+ info)

What possible allergens are there in non-latex gloves?

I seem to have developed some sort of allergy to non-latex gloves that I use at my job in food service. What type of allergens are there in non-latex gloves?
----------

Many people think that they have a latex allergy when in reality they are sensitive to either the powder the manufacturer puts on the gloves to make them easier to put on or they are sensitive to the mold release agent the manufacturer uses to prevent the glove sticking to the mold.

In some latex molding operations the mold is treated with a chemical to cause the latex to cling to the mold and thicken as it is dipped.

You might try a box of powder free exam gloves. The powders used are usually not too bad for skin but if you wear the gloves for long periods of time the powder might be causing the irritation

Why Latex Nipples should not be in steam sterilizers ?

I did not know that Latex nipples should not be placed in steam sterilizers or dishwashers, so I already put my latex nipples in the sterilizers for many times. Is it dangerous for the baby or something ?
----------

The latex will dry out, crack, retain smells of spoiled milk, and have to be thrown away much faster. The best way to clean a latex nipple is with regular hot water and soap, the dry it with a cotton or cotton like cloth. Once every couple weeks, put the clean nipples in a bowl of apple juice. The asorbic acid can seep into the tiny pores and remove all the little milk remains to prevent bacteria an smell. Put the bowl in the freezer for about 20 mins, then wash the nipples in plain running water and dry again. This will keep them clean, smell free, and prolong their life.  (+ info)

I just purchased some latex cuts for a halloween costume. How do I blend it to my face?

I bought these latex cuts to put on my face, which is going to be kind of sick colored and pale, but the flesh on the pieces of latex are a peach color, what do I use on the latex to match the color to my face? I cant seem to make regular halloween make up work for this.
----------

You should use spirit gum to adhere the latex to your face. To blend the latex to your face there are a couple ways. The best way that I have found is to lightly sand the edges of the latex to make them razor flat. You can then use regular makeup to blend them into your skin tones. Rouges, bases and other makeup work fine on latex and if you blend them into your face it will match. Good luck and have fun.  (+ info)

Are there any women who would wear a latex catsuit out in public?

Are there any women who would wear a latex catsuit out in public like to go shopping? Could someone be arrested for doing this? I hardly think so but i would guess it would depend on which state you were in. I know some cities like San Fran and New York many women do it. Why do some people have a fascination with latex? Is it normal?
----------

I would....if I had a flawless body.  (+ info)
