Is it difficult or painful to remove liquid latex from the skin?

My artist husband is going to apply liquid latex to most of my torso for a halloween costume. We've never done this before and I'm little worried about the clean up. Is it hard to get off? Does it hurt while being removed? I imagine that it grabs on to all your body hair. Will I die like the girl in "Goldfinger"?
----------

well on mythbusters they did an episode like that to see if people died from the heat and they did get a little hot so dont do too much. to answer your question (as they did on mythbusters) when the peeled it off their eyebrows it hurt but it is kinda like a peel face mask but a little thicker  (+ info)

Is it safe to use a latex condom with a woman who is allergic to latex?

Will she have any allergic reactions to the latex condom?
The only condom that fits me and I tried on is the Trojan, Magnum, XL.

I have never seen an extra-large, nonlatex, condom for sale. Are they for sale?
----------

If she is allergic to latex, she will have a reaction. The severity of which depends on the extent of her allergy. It wouldn't be pleasant either way.

You need to use polyurethane condoms. That would be best. You can get male condoms made out of polyurethane and the female condoms are made of polyurethane.

If you cannot find polyurethane condoms, in a pinch, you can do the following (depending on how severe here allergy is...if it is too severe, this would be too dangerous):
-properly put on a regular latex condom
-roll a lambskin condom over top of the latex condom

This is the ONLY time you should EVER "double bag" or put two condoms on. It isn't a good idea in general. Get polyurethane condoms!!!  (+ info)

How do Trojan Latex Lubricated condoms work?

What does the latex do? And can it kill sperm?
----------

latex is a type of plastic... it forms a barrier between the man and woman so sperm doesn't enter her canals where a baby is made.

only condoms with a spermicide kills sperm.

condoms have an 84% success rate, meaning that there's an 84% chance that it will protect you against pregnany.... the rate is higher when you use them properly (many people don't put them on right away or wear them wrong) and that doesn't make them effective  (+ info)

what is the difference between rubber nipples and latex nipples?

On my first daughter, I used only silicone nipples, they virtually never wear out. However my second born won't hear of anything like silicone. She seems to only want rubber. When I went shopping for rubber nipples, I found that they are nearly impossible to come across. Virtually nonexistant on store shelves, even Babies R Us. So, since the latex nipples look almost exactly the same, I figured they must be the same thing.

Well the baby knew I was wrong before I did! She won't take the latex nipples at all.

So, what is the difference between rubber and latex nipples, and why do the rubber ones swell up so much? Is it because I've been soaking them in dish water too long?

Thanks.
----------

The latex ones are a lot harder. I used the rubber on both my kids, but it was hard to find them by the time I weened my youngest. She hated the latex and if you try to squish them they are a lot harder. That may be why rubber swells more and why she likes them better because they are more pliable. Sometimes grocery or drug stores still have the rubber, you will pay more of course, but I went to those and stocked up when I could find them.  (+ info)

How do you/will you know if your allergic to latex condoms?

I heard that there are some people that are actually allergic to latex in condoms, but how will I know if I am allergic to latex? Is the latex they use in condoms the same as what doctors use when they put on gloves?
----------

If you have an latex allergy, the reaction will be the same regardless of the area. A mild reaction will cause itching and redness. An worse reaction may be pus, burning, itching and redness. And there is always the risk of anaphylactic shock - extremely rare.  (+ info)

Where can a nurse work if she developed a severe latex allergy?

Are there any departments in a hospital where gloves aren't required? Or maybe any type of nursing job that doesn't require gloves? Or is there a list of latex free hospitals in the US available somewhere? I tried to google it and didn't find anything :(
----------

I have a severe latex allergy & spent a lot of time @ hospitals growing up. Children's hospital in Boston is latex free. Did u try the project elastic website? The spina bifida association may have something to help u too, latex is prevelant in that disability. www.sbaa.org  (+ info)

How do you tell if you have a latex allergy?

What symptoms do you get and how severe do they have to be for you to actually be considered to be allergic to latex?

I was wearing these latex medical gloves the other day and my hands were all red and itchy afterwards even though I washed them like 4 times and put lotion on. My hands are usually really dry though so that might have done something.
----------

My infant daughter has a latex allergy, and we could tell because she would cough violently, retch, and then vomit when using latex bottle nipples. I was also told that I have a latex allergy by a nurse who was asking me questions before I had knee surgery a few years ago. She didn't ask if I was allergic to latex - if she had, I would have said no - but she asked if I'd ever had bleeding or itchy hands after wearing latex gloves. I said yes, and she said it sounds like a latex allergy. (It happened repeatedly, even in warm weather when my hands hadn't been dry beforehand.) I actually didn't quite believe it was a real allergy at the time, but since then it's become obvious that I really am allergic to it. Certain bathing suits have always given me a rash, Spandex-type shorts gave me hives on my legs all throughout sports season in high school (I've heard that real Spandex doesn't contain latex, but similar types of materials often do), I get a bad rash whenever I use latex band-aids, etc.

If you suspect that you're allergic to latex, I'd definitely recommend seeing an allergist for testing. Some people only have mild reactions, but you wouldn't want to risk having a doctor use latex gloves in an emergency situation, in case you had a more severe reaction. People with allergies to bananas, kiwi, avacado, and chestnuts are also more likely to be allergic to latex. I know that many people start to suspect that they're allergic to latex after having a bad reaction to condoms, too.  (+ info)
