If you used condoms with spermicide or lubricant it could be that and not the latex. Try plain ones without all of the extras. In the long run though, those condoms cost a lot less than a baby.  (+ info)

What is an alternative method of protection when you have an allergy to latex?

I'm allergic to latex, and I was wondering what can I use if not latex? I have no other idea, what would be used.

Please don't say sheep skin that's just nasty!

How do I get rid of these bumps from an allergic reaction to latex kitchen gloves?

Silly me didn't pay attention and bought a pair of latex dishwashing gloves. I'm allergic to the powdery latex substance in the gloves. I used them and now I have itchy bumps all over my arms, neck and face (I guess I touch my face a lot!) They aren't that visible, but I can feel the hundreds of tiny little bumps. I stopped using the gloves 5 days ago (only using them once) and have used cortisone cream on the rash, but nothing has worked. What are some other home remedies to use? The allergic reaction isn't so severe that I need to go to the doctor. I just need some relief.
Not just the powdery substance...the actual latex glove itself as well.

About how much liquid latex should one buy to cover an average human body?

I'm doing a monster costume and was considering using liquid latex to mask my skin color but need enough to cover a good portion of my body. So I need to know how much to buy. Any clues?
I'm doing a monster costume and was considering using liquid latex to mask my skin color but need enough to cover a good portion of my body. So I need to know how much to buy. Any clues?

Just for reference, I'm about 5'1, average weight.
I don't know if this will help anyone else out, but apparently a 16 oz jar will make a shirt, or pants. One article of "clothing" basically. To cover an average human body, your best bet is a 32 oz jar. But I've noticed that it's generally less expensive to just buy two jars of the 16 instead of a 32 oz, and then you end up with two or three ounces more! ;)

goto the store, read the container and ask the salesclerk, tell them about how much you want to cover.  (+ info)

How do i know if my girlfriend is allergic to lubricated latex condoms?

When i wear a condom it hurts her vagina. Its more like a stinging burning feeling but it stops after a little. After were done the bottom of her vagina feels like its been irritated and it starts to burn again when touched. It doesnt bother her and she likes it better when we dont use a condom. I dont know if its the lubricant or the latex. Oral lubricant irritates her too.
----------

I agree with Valerie, although I will add a couple of things to it as well.

As Valerie said, she may be getting too dry. Lubricants that are NOT water based will dry out the sensitive skin down there and cause a burning, painful feeling. Sometimes water based lubricants may do this as well, I would recommend using jellies instead of liquids as liquids break down much faster and the lubricating effect doesn't last as long as jellies.

Also, if she were allergic to latex, most likely she would have more of a reaction that just some pain and irritation. Usually an allergy will cause a reaction over more of her body, such as hives or a rash, and a hot sensation over most or all of her body that does not go away until the irritating allergen (in this case latex) has been thoroughly washed off her body. So she most likely is not allergic to latex, and changing condoms or not using one at all may only offer temporary relief.

As far as her not experiencing this problem when you don't use a condom - again, it may be a lubrication problem. Latex condoms absorb lubricants really quickly, making it dry "down there". You may not notice it, other than the pain and burning she is having. Try the water based jelly lubricants, that should help a lot.

Also, always make sure she is fully aroused before entering. A woman who is not fully aroused can be caused pain. A lot of things happen when a woman becomes aroused; her vagina expands and lengthens, becoming ready to accept the penis. Also, the vagina becomes lubricated, and this lubrication is basically a protective lubricant that does multiple things - it lubricates for sex, it is acidic so it kills of unwanted germs and bacteria that may enter, it moistens the skin inside the vagina allowing it to stretch to accomodate the penis, and so on. If lubrication is a problem, it is not uncommon for women to have difficulties becoming fully aroused and producing enough lubrication (that's just how it is, something as simple as worrying about cooking dinner or taking a test in school can cause these problems, the good news is they are fixable by stress relief and some foreplay). You can use the jelly lubricant to help, but if the problem is lubrication, the best thing to do is try different things. Give her a shoulder massage to help relieve stress (this has worked wonders between me and my husband), or just sit and vent about what's bothering both of you. You will feel closer, and it will help relieve stress so you have an easier time.

Oh, and if you want to know if she's allergic to the latex or the lubricant, rub some on the back of her hand (this is thin and sensitive skin, so it will show a good reaction if there is an allergy). To do this, first take a plain, non lubricated glove or condom and rub if somewhat forcefully on her hand (not enough to hurt, but enough to cause her skin to become slightly reddened), then take lubricant and rub it into the back of her other hand (just like you would rub in lotion), wait about 10 minutes, and if there is no reaction, then there is definitely no allergy, in which case, try the things I have suggested, and if you need more suggestions, let me know, I have a million.

If you have more questions, feel free to e-mail me. I have had the same problem your girl is having, and I wondered also if it was latex, but my doctor told me otherwise, and ever since the problem has almost completely gone away (it still comes up every now and then when I get really stressed, but it's gotten a heck of a lot better).

I hope that helps, and let me know if you need more info!  (+ info)

How can people allergic to latex condoms have safe sex?

I'm allergic to latex, so when the time comes when I have sex with my boyfriend how can I protect myself?

Life is too short. Is it really worth 3 minutes of bliss and increasing your risk of contracting a disease such as HPV, HIV, STDS, or even AIDS????

Abstinence is the safest way to go. If he truly loves you and respects you as a person, he will wait until you are both married. You won't regret that you did. Seriously, do you really want to worry each and every time you do it the what ifs---what if I'm pregnant? will he stand by me and support the baby and me?? what if he wasn't honest about his health and he gave me an STD or worse AIDS???  (+ info)

What happens if I use a latex condom with non-latex favorable lube?

I just bought some Boy Butter lube, and I just read that it's not recommended for latex condoms, but I only have latex condoms. What exactly is the risk involved for mixing these? Does it degrade the condom? Does it just not provide the lubricant slickness the company wants to represent? What is it?

Thanks.
----------

it makes the condom disinigrate, so make sure your girl is on birth control, just to be safe, because the condom may break.  (+ info)

What lubricants are safe for lambskin or other non-Latex condoms?

What lubricants are safe to use with non-latex condoms? I have read on the back of a couple popular KY brand lubricants and it says for use with latex condoms ONLY. Which ones should we use?

How long can you wear latex gloves before they wear out?

I have powderless latex gloves I bought, and I was wondering if they could be worn for 8 hours if I wanted to, just for all-purpose non-medical / biological protection, without drying my skin out or leaving weird residue all over my hands, or any other weird things.

I would just be wearing them for fun-- pointless random fun. Because I can.

I am not allergic to Latex, and the gloves fit snugly.
----------

you could wear them as long at you would like but your hand may break out in a rash since your skin won't be able to breath for 8 hours. When your hands are covered like that they sweat and theres no place for the sweat to go so you may have some irritation.  (+ info)
