Why are there no symptoms between chronic and acute chagas disease?

I make a report about the disease, and I still couldn't find an answer why there are no symptoms occurring between the chronic and the acute phase, though the parasite is still in the body. Also it would be awesome if somebody knows if there is something which is triggering the illness after a couple decades so that it becomes chronic and symptoms occur.
----------

Acute merely means it was newly diagnosed. Some diseases are considered chronic if they continue to wrsen, or you have the symptoms longer than usual.  (+ info)

What does "no gross evidence of acute disease" mean?

My boyfriend was recently hospitalized with what we thought was pneumonia, but he was diagnosed with "Acute Left Sided Congestive Heart Failure" as well as bacterial pneumonia. Upon his final exam, a PA and lateral chest x-ray were done. The "Impression" upon review of these chest x-rays from the radiologist states "No gross Evidence of Acute disease". What exactly does that mean?
----------

It means that there is no apparent evidence of any diseases that could potentially kill him.  (+ info)

I Have Acute Intermittent porphyria Do you have it? Would like to talk to others with this disease?

Would like to talk to others with this disease. I know it is a rare disease but it is effecting my everyday life.
----------

Robbie, if you live in So. California, there's a good support group in this area. We meet twice a year and do our best to help each other feel less distant from other people. A rare disorder is not fun. I have VP and have experienced all kinds of mistreatment from MDs, etc. Nita  (+ info)

How can a condition or a disease be both acute and chronic?

Example- Acute and Chronic Appendicitis. I don't understand how the same condition for the same diagnosis can be both acute and chronic. Anyone know?
----------

basically, it means an acute exacerbation of a chronic condition. ie, asthma is chronic, and you can have an acute exacerbation. Diabetes is chronic, and you get acute exacerbations (like acidosis). chronic kidney failure can get acutely worse (acute on chronic kidney failure) etc etc  (+ info)

This is about Disease Acute Pyogenic Meningitis with Pneumonia?

In this disease sometime hear loss of patient occur either due to disease itself or due to doses of Amikacin. What are chances of improvement. Can it be cured.
----------

Both... there is a hearing loss with the meningitis because the infection from the meninges can affect the inner ear which is so close to the meningis.. so a hearing loss can occur.. and the drug amikacin is a ototoxic drug which means it itself can cause hearing loss on high doses but this is reversible when you stop the amikacin theraoy.. other ototoxic drugs are streptomycin, oflaxacin etc!  (+ info)

The common cold is considered an acute disease. What is the treatment for the disease?

Are there different approaches to treatment for the elderly or infants? Why, or why not?
----------

There is no treatment for the disease. Period. Not for the elderly. Not for infants.

You can treat individual symptoms, if you want. But that doesn't treat the disease, the virus, or make it go away any faster. Treating the symptoms doesn't make the disease go away at all. Only time and your own body can do that.  (+ info)

The basis of this question is "Is Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia Disease an acute or chronic disease?"?

I am not quite clear sure how to distungish an acute disease and what is a chronic disease ...i know that acute diseases are short term and chronic disease are long term ..simply...thank you in advance
----------

Acute conditions are severe and sudden in onset. A chronic condition is a long developing condition where symptoms may worsen over time. BPHD is a chronic condition. If the enlargement causes the man to be unable to void urine, he can develop acute urinary retention as a result. The BPHD may not need treatment, but the urinary retention will. The man will still have BPHD, though, unless you remove the prostate- even if you do successfully treat the retention problem. Asthma is a chronic condition, the asthma attack is an acute problem. Hope this clears it for you.  (+ info)
