1/7. Chondrolipoma of the breast: a case report and review of the literature.

Chondrolipoma of the breast is a rare benign cartilage-containing mesenchymal tumor. In the case presented, a patient with a breast mass detected by physical examination was found to have a discrete nodule containing fibrolipomatous tissue with focal areas of cartilage. A review of the literature and differential diagnosis of benign mesenchymal tumors of the breast are discussed.

2/7. Typical and atypical Carney's triad presenting with malignant hypertension and papilledema.

This report encourages clinicians to consider a diagnosis of Carney's triad in patients with multifocal gastric stromal sarcoma, extraadrenal paraganglioma (predominantly mediastinal), or pulmonary chondroma. The authors conducted a retrospective 20-year survey at the Hospital for Sick Children and identified two children with Carney's triad. One child, presenting atypically with papilledema and fundal hemorrhages from malignant hypertension and benign intracranial hypertension from chronic iron-deficiency anemia, is the second patient ever to date be described with the complete Carney's triad of neoplasms at diagnosis. Another child presented more typically with gastric stromal sarcoma and pulmonary chondroma without paraganglioma. Carney's triad is a rare differential diagnosis for "idiopathic" hypertension or iron-deficiency anemia from chronic gastrointestinal bleeding. If missed, patients with Carney's triad may have the debilitating physical and mental consequences of chronic iron deficiency and may die of untreated prolonged hypertension and metastatic leiomyosarcoma.

3/7. Chondroma of the diaphragm--report of a case.

A rare case of chondroma of the diaphragm is reported. The patient was a 23-year-old female who had had recurrent upper abdominal pain for 4 years. Her symptoms and physical findings on admission suggested an intra-abdominal tumor. Roentgenological study disclosed a mass with a thick calcified wall in the upper abdomen. laparoscopy revealed a multinodular white mass protruding from the left hemidiaphragm. The mass was surgically enucleated from the diaphragm. The resected tumor had a thick, calcified wall and a narrow lumen containing colorless fluid. Microscopic examination disclosed a hyaline chondroid matrix with mature chondrocytes, as well as extensive ossification. Primary tumor of the diaphragm is an uncommon disease. Only one case of chondroma of the diaphragm has been reported in the literature. laparoscopy was useful in confirming the tumor's location and in speculating on its nature.

4/7. Pseudoaneurysm of the popliteal artery with an unusual arteriographic presentation. A case report.

Pseudoaneurysms caused by osteochondromas during the second decade of life are well known. Arteriography is generally helpful in the diagnosis of a false aneurysm. In a 30-year-old man, the case was unique in that the arteriogram failed to show the aneurysm at all. physical examination revealed yellow discoloration and tiny hemangiomas of the skin over the fossa poplitea. More emphasis should be placed on the physical examination and less on the arteriogram in making a correct diagnosis.

5/7. Solitary osteochondroma occurring on the transverse process of the lumbar spine. A case report.

We have presented a case of an osteochondroma involving the transverse process of L3 in a 17-year-old man with no evidence of other osteochondromatous lesions. The growth of the lesion was extremely rapid but demonstrated benign histology. This patient was asymptomatic and had a normal physical examination despite the size of the lesion. The benign scoliosis in our patient appears to have been unrelated to and unaffected by the osteochondroma. Whether the osteochondroma would have reached sufficient size to cause significant visceral or neurologic compression, such as in the case presented by Gokay and Bucy, if he had not been treated for scoliosis is a matter of conjecture.

6/7. osteochondroma of symphysis pubis presenting as a prostatic mass: a case report.

We report a case of an asymptomatic osteochondroma of the symphysis pubis that presented as a prostatic mass on physical examination and demonstrated bladder impingement on a computerized tomography scan. Radiographic, gross and histological study confirmed the diagnosis. The consideration of bone tumors in the differential diagnosis of a prostatic mass and the proper evaluation of musculoskeletal tumors are emphasized.

7/7. A 35-year-old-man with pain in the metatarsophalangeal joints. Soft-tissue chondroma.

The following case is presented to illustrate the roentgenographic and clinical findings of a condition of interest to the orthopaedic surgeon. Initial history, physical findings, and roentgenographic examinations are found on the first two pages. The final clinical and roentgenographic differential diagnoses are presented on the following pages.
