Pericardium
(Epicardium)


A conical fibro-serous sac surrounding the heart and the roots of the great vessels (aorta; venae cavae; pulmonary artery). The pericardium consists of two layers or sacs, the outer fibrous pericardium and the inner serous pericardium (or epicardium).
