A phylum of the kingdom Metazoa. mollusca have soft, unsegmented bodies with an anterior head, a dorsal visceral mass, and a ventral foot. Most are encased in a protective calcareous shell. It includes the classes gastropoda; bivalvia; cephalopoda; Aplacophora; Scaphopoda; polyplacophora; and Monoplacophora.
