En familj dna-virus med dubbelsträngade genom som främst angriper levern. Virusen orsakar hepatit hos människor och djur. det finns två släkten, avihepadnavirus och orthohepadnavirus. Hepadnavirus omfattar hepatit b-virus, ankhepatit B-virus, hägerhepatit B-virus, jordekorrehepatitvirus och murmeldjurshepatit B-virus.
