A mosquito-borne viral illness caused by the west nile virus, a flavivirus and endemic to regions of africa, asia, and europe. Common clinical features include headache; fever; maculopapular rash; gastrointestinal symptoms; and lymphadenopathy. meningitis; encephalitis; and myelitis may also occur.
