Thyroiditis can be classified into acute (thyroiditis, suppurative), subacute (granulomatous and lymphocytic), chronic fibrous (Riedel's), chronic lymphocytic (hashimoto disease), transient (postpartum thyroiditis), and other AUTOIMMUNE THYROIDITIS subtypes.
