A quaternary ammonium parasympathomimetic agent with the muscarinic actions of ACETYLCHOLINE. It is hydrolyzed by acetylcholinesterase at a considerably slower rate than ACETYLCHOLINE and is more resistant to hydrolysis by nonspecific cholinesterases so that its actions are more prolonged.
