Why did I start having uterine cramps again now that my son is a toddler?

My son is two and recently I have been having uterine cramps like I had right after I had him (like when you're breast feeding and your uterus is shrinking). It's only in the early morning when I am woken up by him crying into the monitor, and it obviously has no relation to my period because it happens almost every morning now. Is this weird?
I don't think I could be pregnant. I have an IUD.
----------

Could you be pregnant?

Perhaps his crying is a trigger for your body to react that way. Maybe speak with your doctor about it. Good luck!  (+ info)

What are the chances of a uterine rupture?

I will be almost 3 years since my last c-section. (34 months to be exact) My hospital does not have an anesthesiologist available 24-7, so I am considering having another c-section. Does anyone know the chances of having a uterine rupture 34 months after having surgery? I just don't want to undergo surgery if my chances are very slim of having a complications, especially if a VBAC would be safe. My doctor has left the decision up to me. If anyone has had to make this decision, I am interested in why you chose either way.
----------

If you do have a rupture and the anesthesiologist isn't in-house when it happens, you WILL have a C-section with local anesthesia, and you won't enjoy it.

The hospitals near me don't allow VBAC without a full C-section team in-house.

Why did you have the first C-section? That can influence your risk.

ACOG recommends having personnel for C-section immediately available. Any physician who disregards that advice is playing with fire.  (+ info)

How long after concussions do brain hemorrhage occur?

I had concussion about 5 days ago, My head has stopped hurting and I feel fine, the spot on my head is still a bit soft but almost back to normal, I did not go to the hospital. I just want to be safe, none of the hemorrhage symptoms, do you think I'll be fine?
----------

At any point. That's just it there is no way of knowing. A clot could be formed and something like a hit to the head could jog it lose. Head aches are warning signs. Most likly though you'll be fine just you NEED TO GO TO THE DOCTOR concussions can KILL YOU!  (+ info)

How can you get rid of Uterine Fibroids without having surgery?

I have a uterine fibroid that's 8cm in diameter, about the size of an orange. Anyway, what other ways besides surgery can I get rid of it?
----------

There is nothing you can do naturally. My MIL has one the size of a grapefruit and she's one of those herbal loving people who is convinved herbs/natural remedies can cure all. So she set out on taking a bunch of weird crap like tree bark and pussywillow fluff...( LOL I don't know the exact names but this is good enough) and told herself it would shrink her fibroid. Well,....it didn't. It's now even larger than before and she risks rupturing her uterus because she won't get it treated by a medical doctor. Please don't follow her steps. These can be really dangerous if you leave them untreated.  (+ info)

What are the chances of dying in uterine surgery?

Well my mom is getting surgery for uterine cancer. The doctors said that the cancer hasn't fully formed yet, but her cells are starting to get cancerous or something like that. But I wanna know what the chances are of dying in surgeries in vaginal areas. Thank you.

I had a postpartum hemorrhage with my first child, what are the chances of it happening again?

I had a baby 4 months ago, and had a postpartum hemorrhage. It was really severe, and had to have 2 blood transfusions and 2 surgerys, I almost lost my life because of it. I really want to have another baby some day, what are my chances of this happening again?
----------

If they used pitocin to augment your labor it could have caused the hemorrhage.

If it happened during a natural labor (no drugs whatsoever) then I would think you would be at risk.

Most hospital births cause more problems than they solve. Find out the cause of the problem and try to prevent it. Inform yourself and settle for nothing short of the best care for you next time.  (+ info)

How can you tell the difference between menstrual clotting and uterine lining tissue?

When a woman gets her period, how can we be sure if it's clotting or uterine lining? I've read that it's pretty much the same thing. The reason I ask is because recently had to take Plan B for an emergency on May 18th; I got my period on June 2nd till June 7th; I did have clotting (sorry TMI!!) and I took a prego test yesterday morn tha's came back nego. The reason for concern about being prego is I'm having some light cramping, I broke out, it feels as if I'm ready to have another period, but I just had the one. Doc told me it's prob just side effects of Plan B, which is why I'm concerned. When I asked him he couldn't really tell me how I was supposed to tell the diff other than to look at it (too late now obviously) but I figured if I'm having that much clotting that it's prob tissue.

Any answers / info would be much appreciated!!
Thank you for your answers so far! I'm having a lot of PMS symptoms right now; bloating, acne, lots of abdominal pain and cramping. It feels like my period is about to start; normally when I ovulate I have some pain but not this much. I'm gathering as you mentioned it's side effects from Plan B.

As in clotting and tissue, I meant is there any real way to tell which is which? I've heard clotting is possible in pregnancy, but the actual tissue (uterine lining) of course isn't there when pregnant.

Thanks again. :)
----------

Well, a period is the shedding of the uterine lining so I'm not sure what you mean by a difference. Now if you mean the difference between the normal bleeding of a period and what you might find say with a miscarriage you would have actual clots that you would have no difficulty recognizing as such. If you did plan B as you say you wouldn't have had time to develop a pregnancy and therefore wouldn't have any miscarriage material just a normal period. It may take a couple months for you hormones to to return to normal after taking that pill so be patient and see how things look in 2 to 3 months.  (+ info)
