Does the body go into starvation mode if you eat 1500 calories in a day but then run say 13 miles and burn it?


They say you don't lose body fat from starving yourself. So I'm wondering if eating a normal amount of calories, but then burning it all off leads to your body going into starvation mode as well.

you wont loose body fat from starveing yourself because when your body goes into starvation mode it converts all calories into instant fat. i would say that if you rune 13 miles which is a lot when your done eat untill your just full. but running 13 miles takes a lot and that long of a run with only 1500 calories powering it will probobly make your body go into a semi starvation mode.  (+ info)

And how many calories do you have to consume to get to starvation mode?

I am idly curious. If you eat 800 calories a day for one month, is that enough to get you into starvation mode?

How to get your metabolism running again after youve been in starvation mode?


so i stopped eating completely for about 2 to 3 weeks because and i was reading online that i might be in starvation mode and that my metabolism is really slow right now..

I will assume you are female since females are more likely to do this. Start eating a healthy 1800 calories. If you work out go more like 2000 calories. Everything will kick back in within the week. After that drop down to, but no lower than 1500 calories.  (+ info)

How few calories can you eat before your body goes into starvation mode ?


I am 18,I eat around 1200 to 1400 a day. I want to lose 10 pounds. I cycle 5-6 days a week , dance 6 hours a week, and have a job that keeps me on my feet.

How many calories is too few. I heard that when you eat to few your body can go into starvation mode and you start storing all you eat as fat. How many calories is too few and will put my body into that mode.

first you need to to figure that out find out how many calories on average you burn a day. if you are eating a average of 1300 calorie then you should burn no more than 2300 calories. andthat's's because you should never have a difference over a 1000 calories. that puts your body in starvation mode. when your in starvation mode your body wont store everything you eat as fat but your metabolism will drop and losing weight will become more difficult. from the sounds of it you are very active and 1200 calories may be a little too low, i would try sticking with 1400.  (+ info)

I ate barely anything for ages and lost weight. I've been struggling with it for months. How do I take my body out of starvation mode so that I can eat 1200 calories (that's how much my body should use) without gaining?

Try to gradually build up your calories by about 100 every 2 days. That way it won't be such a shock to your body. Don't be alarmed if you gain a tiny bit at first. This will mainly be water from the extra food, so will go again. X  (+ info)

Mental condition of someone suffering from starvation for weeks?


I wonder how it is the mental condition of a person who is suffering from starvation, not eating practically nothing, for a period of 2 or more weeks. There may be brain damage? A person can act insane? If you know what happens, please, I need to know, can not find specific information.

Not good news. Starvation causes little to no energy and makes a person's mind and body lethargic. Very harmful.

Why so little? But yes it is starvation mode.

If you are dieting you should be on no less than 1200 calories per day.

If you are dieting why the rush? One of the girls I work with is a big lady, she was about 140 kg when she started to loose weight, she is sticking to her diet and loosing around 1.5 - 2kg per week. What I have noticed is that her skin, face, hair and her (vibe) maybe it's her energy levels are just fantastic and she is now down to 110kg that is since November last year.  (+ info)

I'm having a difficult time trying to figure everything out. :( People say that you need to consume about 500 calories everyday to lose weight but I read some stuff about starvation mode and that I need to consume more than 1000 calories. So how can I lose weight???
I exercise everyday i.e. running on the treadmill, jump roping, etc.

Do protein shakes help you keep your muscle if you get into starvation mode?


I've been seeing "starvation mode" all over the net and one thing they mention it does to you is that it eats your muscle.. So will protein shakes help you keep that muscle even if you get into starvation mode?

Nothing will help you keep muscle if you go into starvation mode because your body's metabolism will radically change. Why would you want to do this?  (+ info)
