There is no medicine for almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation;
Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 90% success in treating pains confirms it.
Acupuncture is the best treatment. Pl try first.

iS any one else suffering from ankylosing spondylitis?

I have just been diagonosed with this and for the longest time my Dr kept telling me I had Osteo Arthritis....Im just wondering if you are dealing with this...(ankylosing spondylitis) what do you do to releive the pain? besides all the meds you have to take....
----------

Sorry you have AS. The pain can be quite difficult at times to deal with, especially if you have some fusion in the spine already. Other than meds, you can help relieve pain with hot showers or baths. Get the water as hot as you can stand to help promote blood flow and then end your shower or bath with water as cold as you can stand to help numb the pain. You can also do the same with hot packs and ice packs if you not around a tub. Another important thing is to keep at a healthy weight. Being over weight will put more strain on your joints. Even though it seems like it will be more painful, some light exercise can help keep your spine more flexible. Your doctor should be able to give you some good exercise regimens to work on to help your back. These are just some of the things you can do, but keep in mind that some things don't work for everyone. Try to keep a positive attitude and best of luck to you.  (+ info)

Do I have gout, or Ankylosing Spondylitis, or Reiter's syndrome, or what?

I woke up a few days ago with severe pain in my left foot heal area. On the bottom of my foot, in the back on the heal, and a little on the sides of my heal as well.

The more I walked on my foot, the worse the pain got. By the end of the day, I could not walk at all. Rest helps the pain a lot, as long as I am off of my feet, it feels fine. But walking or sitting up too long causes severe pain in my heal.

I am a smoker, a drinker, and I am about 35 pounds over weight, I am not very active, and I do not work, so I can't figure out what happened, it's not like I am an athlete or something an got an injury. Other then chasing my 2 little kids around, I am not that active.

I haven't smoked or drank in 2 days, hoping it might help me feel better, and so far, the foot pain is getting better, plus being off my feet alot has helped, which is easy to do since I had surgery yesterday at the hospital to have a cystic tumor removed from my left ovary, but that's a whole different issue.
Also, there is NO swelling, NO redness, NO warmth around the heal, no visible signs of anything, just pain aching in my heal, no visible signs at all of trauma, and occassonally very very sharp pains along with the achyness too, all of this only located in my heal of one foot.
----------

Sounds like you may have plantar fasciitis, an inflammation of the tendons in the feet. It causes heel pain and makes it difficult to walk. Rolling your heels on a frozen bottle of water will help to decrease swelling & inflammation. You may need an antiinflammatory or even cortesone shots in your feet. I had this problem and hobbled around like a senior citizen for over a year until I got so sick & tired of hobbling that I went to a podiatrist. He xrayed my feet, gave me cortesone shots, and I bought orthotic inserts to put in my shoes. I stopped walking barefoot around the house, and wore my good sneakers with the inserts to work every day. I couldn't walk for exercise or walk on the treadmill for awhile. It took awhile, but it healed. I haven't had any trouble since then. I hope you get some relief. Best wishes.  (+ info)

Does anyone have Ankylosing Spondylitis? What are your symptoms and how were you diagnosed?

Ankylosing spondylitis is a systemic disorder characterized by inflammation of the axial skeleton and large peripheral joints, nocturnal back pain, back stiffness, accentuated kyphosis, constitutional symptoms, and anterior uveitis. Diagnosis requires demonstrating sacroiliitis on x‑ray. Treatment is with NSAIDs or tumor necrosis factor antagonists and physical measures that maintain joint flexibility.

----------

Ankylosing Spondylitis is a degenerative auto-immune disease of the spine.

This means it's a disease where one's own body attacks its own tissues (in this case, the spine). It is degenerative (meaning it gets worse and actually destroys the bone over time), and causes the spine to become rigid and inflexible.  (+ info)
