What did you do for extreme nausea and vomiting during pregnancy?

I am about 9 weeks pregnant and miserable! I have constant nausea and can't even keep water down. I had to go to the ER yesterday to be put on an IV because I was so dehydrated. They gave me pills to help with the nausea, but I can't take them- even if I manage to swallow them, I vomit. I feel horrible- I can't eat, drink, or sleep. I am open to any advice. What helped during your pregnancy? Thank you for your help.
----------

Ask your doctor for Zofran in dissolvable tablet form. You don't swallow the pill, it just dissolves on your tongue. Zofran is the best medication out there for nausea and severe hyperemesis (vomiting).

When I felt nauseated, I would take sips of water which had lots of lemon juice in it to make it tart. Just sips - not guzzling. Ginger tea also helps.  (+ info)

I was told by a nurse at my docotrs office that ginger was a great thing to use ginger snaps and ginger ale and they work but the ginger snaps are freakin nasty they have a bitter taste so you may not like them others around me do but mt taste for everything is all messed up since I am always feeling sick and so everything taste yucky!!

How early did your nausea start with pregnancy?

I'm only 7 or 8 dpo today. I had a temperature dip this morning that suggests I'm implanting maybe. I woke up with some horrible nausea that is going away the longer I'm awake and after I drank a little bit of milk. I NEVER get nauseous randomly. Anyhow, I may or may not be pregnant, but how early did the morning sickness start for all you pregnant ladies?
----------

During my 1st pregnancy I had mild morning sickness that started around 2 months and ended at 4 months. This 2nd time around, I started at 3 weeks and still have it and I'm around 10 weeks. I feel nauseated all the time, but cannot throw up. I only did 1 time and it is frustrating. I'd rather throw up and get it over with, than feel like this all the time. I eat crackers and light meals and snacks. I cut back on caffeine and mostly drink water and lemonade to help.  (+ info)

I Just Had my Period Early it Started Brownish and and then it got lighter as the days went on for 4 days and now i feel nausea at night, and my lower belly feels crampy and tight. What Does This Mean?
----------

It could be implantation bleeding, meaning you might think its your period, but you could be pregnant. You should get a pregnancy test just to make sure. Good Luck sweety and baby dust for you!!!  (+ info)

How can i eliminate nausea in pregnancy?

I've been having nausea and its really hard in the morning to deal with so how can i help eliminate it?
----------

Unfortunately, there's no way to eliminate nausea in pregnancy, but there are some ways to try to cope with it and keep it under control.

The most important thing right now is to stay hydrated. You really don't want to be dehydrated, so drink as much as possible. Take small sips so as not to overwhelm your stomach. Water can sometimes hurt an empty stomach, so try ginger ale with the bubbles stirred out (carbonation can also hurt your stomach), powerade or gatorade, or juice, if you can manage it.

Other things that might work for you are popsicles or ices, and fruit--a lot of miserably pregnant women find that they CAN eat fruit, so try out different kinds if that appeals at all. For me, I found that I could eat (at different times) strawberries, grapefruit, and thinly sliced golden delicious apples. It was weirdly specific, but it kept me alive!

You might also want to try adding peanut butter to your crackers. Peanut butter has protein, which will make you feel better if you can keep it down.

You should try having very small "meals"--a bite of a cracker here and there when you can stomach it. A lot of people find that keeping crackers or something light next to their bed and taking a few bites before they even get out of bed in the morning. You will feel worse if your stomach is empty, so keeping food in it--even just a little bit--will help stave off the misery.

If nothing else works, call your doctor and see if you can get antinausea medication to help you feel better.

Good luck!  (+ info)

Menstruation with heavy bleeding nausea and pain?

44 yrs old and 2 years ago started bleeding heavily with periods. Now I have nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, severe cramping and a sense of doom. Starts 2-3 days before period and goes away about the 2nd day of bleeding. Would like natural remedies, any suggestions?
----------

Well, I'm 17 and surprisingly enough I have the quite the same. It's almost like I get the flu before I start my period. I have read online that some women, before they begin menopause will actually experience heightened severity in their symptoms, but it does go away. It most likely means either A.) You're actually sick, and need to be checked out or B.) Menopause is coming your way. A great place for information is webmd or talk to your doctor I'm sure they can help you. As far as solving the diarrhea and others on their own, simply take Pepto-Bismol, it's what I do and the dizziness goes away too. (Dizziness is linked to diarrhea). If cramping is too severe take Extra Strength Excedrin or Midol. I really hope this helps! =]  (+ info)

How can I control nausea and be sure that my body is absorbing vitamins?

I just found out I'm pregnant and the nausea is impossible to control. I started taking vitamins with food but I'm throwing up too much so I don't really know if my body is absorbing the vitamins or not. What should I do? (besides going to the doctor)
----------

I had horrible morning sickness the first several weeks of my pregnancy. I mean it was like I had the worst flu for a month or more straight. My dr recommended Vitamin B6 25mg 3x a day. It takes about 4 days for it to really start working but I'd say it was what saved me. Also eating 3 steady meals and drinking water. Good luck. And please don't take any prescribed medicine unless your baby's health is really in danger otherwise they are not worth the risk.  (+ info)

What could be the cause of constant nausea without any other symptoms?

In August 2005, I woke up one morning dealing with constant nausea. I've been tested for so many things and the doctors can't seem to find anything. At first, my doctor put me on medication for acid reflux and that didn't work. It's hard for me to ride in the car. I have anxiety about going anywhere with crowds of people. I've lost so much weight and I'm not able to work anymore. Even though I am able to eat at times, I have to eat my meal in sections to try and avoid getting sick. I can be eating and then all of a sudden I just get really nauseated. I'm pregnant now and entering my last trimester. I've been sick with nausea the whole time, but I've only thrown up twice. I'm desperate for answers because this is destroying my family life. Is there anybody out there that can relate to what I'm going through?
----------

You should try having a gastric emptying study done. If there is a possibility that you suffer from gastroparesis (which is like a paralysis of your stomach), that can cause you to feel nauseas all day long, every day. It can give you a bloated feeling too, especially after you eat or drink anything, even if it is only a very tiny bit...because your stomach is not able to digest.

If the gastric emptying study gives normal results (all a gastric emptying study is, is they give you a bit of scrambled eggs that is laced with material that can be tracked by their machine, but you can't taste it. All you taste is the eggs, which taste pretty good, actually. I've had this test done. Then you lie down on a table and the machine watches your stomach digest the food and times how long it takes. It's a very simple and totally painless test.) then you should probably get either an upper-GI series or an edoscopy done. You could have a simple case of gastritis. But in order to know that, they need to see inside your stomach to see if it is red and inflammed.

Whatever happens, I do hope you feel better. I know what it is like to be nauseas for so long.  (+ info)

How do I handle my nausea without giving up Provigil?

I have been taking Wellbutrin and Provigil for over a month and a half now. And although I am learning how to avoid getting nausea for the most part sometimes I get no warning before it occurs. I can't stand my body being this unpredictable but as a Narcoleptic will not give up the provigil as stimulants are my only other alternative. What can I do?
----------

Have you considered that anxiety may be causing your nausea? I haven't taken antinausea meds or didn't ever really give a thought that they existed. But I have overcome my nausea naturally I guess.  (+ info)
