How to stop nausea and prevent getting sick?

I've been really stressed out lately and just had cheese curls after eating some chicken pot pie--gross now that I think about it. I feel extremely nauseas and it's really late here. I *need* to be at class tomorrow in order to keep my A in my classes. Does anybody know of any remedies at home to prevent myself from throwing up and cure the nausea/settle my stomach?

Thanks for any help! :)

Ginger, ginger ale, saltine crackers, and pepto bismol will stop the nausea. Your body will usually let you know when you have to vomit by making your mouth salivate. When you swallow the saliva, it cues your body to vomit. So spit out the saliva. Or you can just vomit-maybe it'll make you feel better.  (+ info)

How early does nausea set in during pregnancy?

My boyfriend of 6 years and I have been having sex without protection, assuming that whatever is meant to be will be. I have been mildly nauseous on and off every day for about 2 weeks. However, I have taken several pregnancy tests and they all came out negative. I can't attribute the nausea to anything. Is it possible to experience nausea before the result will show "positive" on a pregnancy test? I am horrible at tracking my period so I can't even say when I was due for it. Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you!
----------

I started throwing up 5 days before my period. At first I thought it was a stomach bug, but I tested anyway a day or 2 later, and I got a positive. And now I'm 12 weeks 4 days, and still sick as crap! My 1st clue that it wasn't a bug was I ate Chinese and it made me sooo sick, and that is my favorite food! Once I went to the doctor to confirm (the day I took the test) my hcg level was only 30, but anything over 25 is pregnant, so I was very early finding out.

Good Luck!  (+ info)

How to deal with the dizziness and nausea that occurs after hemodialysis?

My father has been on Hemodialysis for over 1 month and he is still plagued with sever dizziness and nausea. So much so that he doesn't know if he wants to continue on dialysis. Is there anything that I can do to help with this? Is there anything that can help alliviate these side effects? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
----------

Chris you really need to talk to your Dads dialysis team there are many reasons why he might be feeling sick after dialysis but it sounds like he might be getting to much fluids taken off. He can try getting less off for a couple of times.
I have been on dialysis for almost 3 years and I remember that first year as the ruffest ever in my life! Im glad I continued.
You can go to a couple of websites like Davita.com and ihatedialysis.com for lots of information.
Try to learn what his numbers should be each week they will change as he gets to feeling better. But some stay the same ALL THE TIME!
Good Luck.  (+ info)

Is nausea and having the feeling you need to vomit when drunk, psychological or physical?

Is there some kind of automatic defense in your body that wants to get the booze out no matter what? Or is this nausea all in your head?
I read a few things about the placebo effect, about how if you think something is going to work, it actually does work.

What I mean with psychological is: Can nausea due to alcohol be beaten this way? Or is it really just your body that NEEDS to get the liquor out.
----------

Too much alcohol can kill you, so when the body wants to get rid of it, it probably means that it really does need to get rid of it. Part of the nausea can be from being light headed too, which can bring on the feeling.  (+ info)

Are there home remedies for making grannys nausea go away?

Ok, no way to be pregnant. There are reasons for the nausea but I need to know if there are any home remedies that will make it go away. Do you know any thing?
----------

peppermint. I work in a hospital and we sometimes use peppermint oil on cotton balls to scent the air in people's rooms when they have nausea. You can get essential oil of peppermint at a health store, or try something cheaper from the grocery or drug store. You can also buy peppermint tea, but if she is really pukey- she probably would not want to drink anything.  (+ info)

What is a good way to get rid of pregnancy nausea?

I am 14 weeks pregnant with my second child, and I am having intense nausea to the point of my stomach muscles seizing up and almost complete inability to function. Standing up makes it 100 times worse. Is there anything I can do to help with this? I am trying to keep my stomach from being empty, and I am trying to stay away from anti nausea drugs. Any advice is helpful. Thanks!
----------

Is there a particular reason you are staying away from medicine? Your nausea is obviously to the point where you are no longer able to manage it. Have you talked to your doctor? I had awful morning sickness with both my children and now my third. Nothing helped, and I mean nothing. I was hospitalized weekly for dehydration until my doctor finally put me on a drug called Zofran. It is my miracle drug. Works like a charm, and I haven't had any side effects.  (+ info)

What are good tips on dealing with nausea?

I get very bad nausea because of my antidepressants. Sometimes I can't eat for a day or two because I feel like I'll vomit and it just doesn't feel good to eat when I'm that dizzy.

Does anyone have any good tips on dealing with it? Should I just stay in bed, go outside or drink water? What are some foods that won't be that hard to eat? A pregnant friend of mine recommended saltines but I don't like them.

Thankyou for the help!

Sounds like the prescription is too potent for you. You may have to go back to your PsyD for a prescription adjustment re-evaluation to decrease dosage. Schedule an appointment as early as possible.  (+ info)

What is the connection between postpartum cardiopathy and nausea?

I have a friend who has this condition and she suffers a lot from nausea. The doctors don't seem to know what is causing it.
----------

Probably "nerves" from having pospartum cardiomyopathy. The nausea should get better with time...as should the cardiomyopathy.  (+ info)

What could be the cause of my nausea?

I am currently studying abroad in Germany and I am bit apprehensive in finding a German doctor (My German is not the best in medical vocab!) for finding out why I have been feeling like this. About two weeks ago, I began to experience nausea and extreme fatigue. I also had a cough. However, now I only the feelings of being nauseated. I did vomit once from eating spicy foods, but that was all. I have adjusted to living in a new country so I am not anxious or stressed. I did had unprotected sex last month, but I'm know for a fact that I am not pregnant. I have tried some remedies to help my nausea such as drinking tea, but it always comes back everyday. So any suggestions on what could be the cause of my nausea or have more remedies to help alleviate my symptoms? Thanks!
----------

There are so many things which could be the cause of persistent nausea and fatigue. If time and your remedies are not reducing the nausea, then it is probably time to see a doctor.

Try to find a doctor who speaks English, take a friend who can help translate, or hire a translator. If you are studying and living in Germany, I bet you will be able to make yourself understood...take a dictionary with you, and don't feel silly acting out your symptoms. I once had a woman who did not speak English bring a letter she wrote before arriving in the clinic outlining her problem, I'm not sure if she wrote it or had someone write it for her, but it was helpful to me...

So pluck up some courage, and go to the doctor. This is part of the adventure of living overseas :)

Feel better soon.  (+ info)

How do I get over this never ending nausea?

I've had food poisoning for almost a week now. I try to eat and drink to replenish lost fluid due to nausea and (murky green) diarrhea, but I can' keep it down. Food poisoning should only last 1-4 days, but I have exceeded that. I loathe being sick and this is the first time I have ever gotten food poisoning. I just moved to another state to I have NO insurance to see a doctor. Someone PLEASE help me out!
----------

You MUST see a doctor; you could have a serious condition. If you do not get the condition accurately diagnosed and properly treated, you will very possibly become MORE sick. Hospitals have clinics with Charity Care, and the E.R. can't turn you away. If they bill you, you can send $10.00 a month -- that's how I paid for my son's birth (he was 2 by the time my deductible was paid off LOL! ).

For diarrhea they usually recommend the BRAT diet: Bananas, Rice Apples and Toast. I find that Cinnamon Toast (easy on the butter) helps settle my stomach. You might also want some ginger ale (let it go flat if the bubbles will irritate you).  (+ info)
