I went the beach and was unable to get contact solution, so when i dropped my contact in the bathroom i used tap water and purified water. It has almost been 48 hours, and my eye isn't really hurting though it might be a little stingy (or i'm just thinking about it). However it does feel like there's something in it and its a little red, but not bad.

Should I see a doctor? and how long until it affects my vision?

I believe I might have Keratitis, my eye kind of aches but it doesn't feel that bad. But I might have some acute Keratitis. If you have been tested for an eye infection, what did the doctor do?
i dont think itll hurt but first hell put drops in your eye then use a special microscope thingyy to look into yur eye for internal swelling or somethin.  (+ info)

I think I have keratitis, it's small and red bumps on my arms, back and hips. The doctor doesn't know what to do. I have had this problem for 5 years and it's getting worse. What to do?
Make sure that you have these supplies: Brush, whiteout, primary colors of tempera paints(you can get these at any Kraft store.) Make sure that you get a pa-latte and brush. then you must get a mirror so you can see your back. once you spot a spot try to "color match" using a color wheel. If you are as white as they come use more whiteout. be careful to negotiate the brush to the allotted spot adding purple to red depending on the darkness of your red spot. this works wonders. soon, with practice you will cover a majority of these spots. Don't worry if you don't get it right the first week this takes time.  (+ info)

How effective are cold compresses for eyes?

I recently got diagnosed for keratitis and i have started doing cold compresses to my eyes. Do cold compresses simply just reduce the symptoms temporarily or do they serve long-term benefit. It's only been a few days since i started intensive cold compress treatment(3 times a day) so i can't tell. Any thoughts anyone!?

I'm almost positive that this is my problem, but I'm going to see a professional in the morning. Is there anything I can do to help it overnight?
Be sure to take your contacts, solutions and case with you to your appt tomorrow. Use some artificial tears overnight (not the ones that get the red out). And be honest with the eye dr. Tell them if you have been sleeping in them, changing them less often then you should be, or not changing the solution. They may give you a little lecture about it, but have a much better idea of what is going on and the best way to treat it. Get some rest..cool compresses may make them feel better tonight as well.  (+ info)

Acanthamoeba keratitis is often difficult for your eye doctor to diagnose at first because its symptoms appear similar to those associated with other eye infections, such as conjunctivitis.

The best thing to do is to take your contacts out immediately, if you haven't done so already, and contact an optometrist ASAP.

If you've worn your contacts while swimming or in a watery area (like water park), or use water to store/rinse/or clean your contacts than you should let the doctor know.  (+ info)
