Bacterial keratitis from sleeping in contacts?

So I accidentally slept with my contacts in and now have an eye infection :( I feel like an idiot! Anyway, I started the antibiotic ointement last Wednesday night and my eye doesn't seem to be getting better. My vision is blurry except right after I use artficial tear drops and there is no pain. I have a follow up appointment on Thursday. I am wondering if anyone has experienced this before and how long it took to clear up?
----------

It may take a while to heal. Your vision is blurred because you have swelling and you are using the ointment. The ointment is the consistency of Vasoline, so you will be blurry. I would continue the meds. and keep your appointment with your doctor. you are lucky, usually things are much worse when you gets infections from sleeping in your lenses. We had a young patient who did this several years ago after being in a hot tub (which is horrible with contact lenses!!!) and the next day he had to have an emergency corneal transplant. Please be careful! :/  (+ info)

Hi,

I also have acanthamoeba keratitis but I don't heard you will die from it.
I have medicated since 14 of april 2009. It will take several months to heal, chances are good if found early. They found mine in 14 days.

I'd like to discuss this with you, since you also have this kind of infection, in my right eye, blurry vision now :-(

Interested?
Email me,

Sincerely,
Johan  (+ info)

Can Anyone Here Put traumatic keratitis/herpatic keratitis In Plain English?

From what I understand Traumatic Keratitis is when your cornea gets inflamed due to the fact that you scarred your cornea in an accident (or contacts) and bacteria got in so basically your immune system is fighting the bacteria in your eye. Cornea is the white part of your eye.

Herpatic Keratitis is when you have the STD Herpes, and the same thing happens but it is a sympton of the Herpes virus.  (+ info)

They're squigley lines of stuff on the surface of the eye. I got plenty of floaters and need to have something done about them because they affect my vision particularly at night. Not sure if it the same thing as your mum has though. I'm heading to the optometrist today to get my eyes tested adn I will ask about them!

Who's familiar with the eye disease? Fusarium keratitis?

Latest research found that contact lense solutions causes blindness to contact lense users. Could you give me any information about this disease? Please don't refer a link.
Thanks.
----------

Fusarium keratitis is bascially a fungal infection of the cornea (the clear front of the eye). The fungus causes large ulcers right over the pupil, which are very difficult to treat. As the ulcers heal, the cornea scars and becomes opaque (leading to blindness). Patients usually have the option of a corneal transplant to restore vision to the affected eye.  (+ info)

Anyone get acanthamoeba keratitis?

I did this past summer, i thoroughly enjoy the treatment of a week in hospital and being kept awake for round the clock treatment. If you know what peroxide feels like, imagine that in your eyes every hour on the hour a week straight. but for my suffering, i've been told that i'm the best patient they've ever seen for recovery.
i've never used renu with moisture loc, you've mistaken what i had(an amoeba) with what moisture loc users got(a fungus) you can get what i got just about anywhere there's resting water.
