can 4cm by 4cm right ovarian cysts cause right renal hydronephrosis?

can you please tell me is it possible that a right ovarian cyst can cause right renal hydronephrosis. is the right ovary near the ureter?
----------

I would have thought it would be too small, and i would say although everyone is slightly different, that the ovary is not near enough to it.I would make a appointment with you GP,as something else may be causing it.  (+ info)

Is there is any medication for hydronephrosis?

The ureter is obstructed by collesion. There is no symptoms. An endoscope didnt reveal any stone.
----------

Your urologist will need to decide whether there is a way of fixing the obstruction.

No medications that you can easily take will fix what is essentially a plumbing problem.

Hydronephrosis is often asymptomatic because we only need one kidney to get by on.

Treatment for obstructions causing hydronephrosis can include - stent (a little tube passing through the obstruction so urine can get through), percutaneous nephrostomy (putting a tube from the kidney to the skin so the urine can get out - you'd have to catch it in a little bag stuck on your tummy), or nephrectomy (surgery to take the kidney out)  (+ info)

My son was diagnosed with PUJ/UPJ obstruction antenatally who's 5 mnts now and has moderate hydronephrosis?

I'm asked 2 get his scan done every 3 months to monitor his condition. The urologist also said there r chances of the obstruction getting corrected by itself (as the baby grows) or he might require a surgery if condition gets worse. Is anybody aware of prognosis of PUJ?
----------

First of all, congratulations on having a new beautiful baby. I am sure he/she is doing just fine.

PUJ stands for pelvic ureteric junction obstruction. The ureter is the tube that carries urine from the kidney to your bladder. The pelvis is the part of the kidney that connects to the ureter. If you imagine the kidney as a bean shaped organ, the pelvis is located at the eye of the bean.

In PUJ obstruction, there is a block in this region leading to the kidney side of the junction swelling up or ballooning out. If it is noted on antenatal scans, the scan is repeated soon after delivery to establish the extent of the problem. If it is mild and there appears to be reasonably good kidney function, it is just monitored as quite often, things settle as baby grows. If monitoring shows however that there are significant problems such as severe obstruction or infections, then intervention is planned which could including providing a stent to relieve the obstruction or some other procedure.

Babies with PUJ generally do very well if there are no additional underlying medical problems. What is essential is the monitoring so that if there are problems, they are picked up early and dealt with so baby can have a good quality of life.

I have added some links below which should help explain things better. As you can see, some just need monitoring to ensure problems if they come up are not missed and that is all that happens for a number of babies. For those that need surgery, monitoring picks them up early so intervention is timely.

All the best with your new bouncy baby!  (+ info)

did u or do u know any pregnant girl with diagnostic called bilateral fetal hydronephrosis?

what was the result?
----------

I don't know anyone personally, but have had patients with this condition. It is not a disease, rather a physical result of something that is keeping the kidneys from draining. Generally it is not fatal to the mother or the fetus. It is easily corrected while the fetus is still in the uterus. I have not seen any fatal outcomes from this. If this is something that your baby has been diagnosed with, it will be a long road for you, but everything should come out fine. Good luck and God Bless  (+ info)

anyone know if mild hydronephrosis is serious in an adult?

what is the treatment, prognosis of this condition? I cant seem to get any information on this.
----------

It is an effect of obstructive nephropathy, not a disease itself. So, it will depend on the cause. If cause has been treated successfully, it should not be serious.
Good luck!

Has anyone had a boy born with hydronephrosis?

My 2 1/2 month old was born with hydronephrosis. His doctor told me it looks minor and we are going for a few tests. I would like to hear from others who have experienced this. Tell me your story and if or how it has been resolved. Thank you!!!!!!!!
----------

An ultrasound on my newborn showed hydronephrosis; he was kept on antibiotics for a couple of months pending additional testing, because there is an increased risk of UTI and kidney infection with hydronephrosis.

When he was a few months old we took him to a pediatric urologist (not neurologist!) and they performed a VCUG, which stands for voiding cystourethrography. It wasn't especially comfortable for him, as it requires a catheter, but it doesn't take particularly long and judging from his crying (of which there was some, when the catheter was inserted and when it was removed) it wasn't terrible. The test results are read instantly, and the doctors were able to tell me there was no evidence whatsoever of hydronephrosis. (That is not at all unusual; hydronephrosis often resolves itself.) We came home and threw away the antibiotics, and there have been no problems since.

Hopefully, additional testing for your baby will show no signs of hydronephrosis at this stage. Good luck.  (+ info)

Anyone has a child who has hydronephrosis?

Hi,
My baby girl is now 4 months old...she has been diagnosed with hydronephrosis of the left side kidney.
Its mild but I'm still concerned about it as she is my first and it took us 5 years to conceive her.
Does anyone have a child with it and what happens next? Any stories or experiences to share?
I know she will need to have ultrasounds to keep an eye on it,but that is all i know.
Thank you for your answers and kind words :) you helped alot.

Its sad! There are such instances and kids mostly recover when they grow up!

See a good pediatric nephrologist for proper advice.

I am quite confident that the child will become OK and the kidney will recover most of the nephrons and the damged ones will be removed.

Most importantly it seems that there is an obstruction in her left ureter. Take steps as early as possible to remove the obstruction and correct it.

Seek good medical advice and I hope you can arrange the fund for any procedure if required.

Please make sure that you are seeing the right doctor and taking proper steps at right time!

My personal wishes and prayer for the child are with you  (+ info)

My son has hydronephrosis a kidney problem covered in cysts?

The doctors say he may need a shunt when he is born and may possibly loose a kidney since it is only getting worse, but instead of them delivering him early to help they are not doing a thing his kidneys have dialated really bad.. would you pressure doctor to deliver early and do what they can for him now or just wait it out.. I am now 33wks...

hydronephrosis what is it and how long to go away?

what is hydronephrosis,? and how long does this take to go away after a ureteral stone blockage was removed?
i had a ct yesterday and it is still there after 4 weeks.
----------

Hello. I figured you answered one of my questions I'll answer one of yours.
hydronephrosis:
Abnormal enlargement of a kidney, which may be caused by blockage of the ureter (such as by a kidney stone) or chronic kidney disease that prevents urine from draining into the bladder. Hydronephrosis may cause vague intestinal symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
If it is not severe it should correct itself with no treatment..How long not sure.

Hope this answers your question. talk to u later.  (+ info)
