How long does melanoma (after a mole becomes malignant) take to spread and cause a person to die?

Does it take years after malignancy of a mole or does melanoma spread within a few weeks as with other cancers? For example if someone has a mole (dysplastic nevi) for more than 2 years, could it be that this mole has been malignant for two years or longer?
----------

Difficult to say as each person is an individual. Some cancers grow slower than others and some take off like wildfire and spread within a few weeks. Cancer means the uncontrollable growth of cells . . so the fact that they may grow quickly should never come as a surprise to anyone.

Death from malignancy is also an individual thing since much will depend on the overall health of the individual, age, and their response to treatment.

As for your question about how long it takes a mole to become malignant .. again it depends on the person. Some cancers can stay dormant for undetermined amount of time and than suddenly begin growing rapidly. No one knows why or we would be able to stop cancer.
That is why it is best to treat cancer when it is small and manageable because you never know when it is going to have a 'growth spurt' and spread like wildfire.  (+ info)

How long does it take a mole to stop bleeding?

I recently just cut a mole and it started bleeding. I put ice on it and it stopped, but as soon as I take it off it starts to bleed again. There is no hair on the mole, and I've had it my whole life. How long does a mole take to stop bleeding?
Please note: I didn't intentionally cut the mole and it is still there.
----------

Why would you cut it off and be so suprised that it's bleeding that you ask random people on the internet? It will bleed until it's done and you should've had a doctor do it  (+ info)

How can I convince my parents that a scar is better than a mole?

My parents don't want me to get mole removal done because of the possibility of scarring. The mole is black, raised, and on my face. It hate it, I know it looks gross. Apparently in their culture it is a "beauty mark" and they think a scar will look"unnatural". I'd much rather have a small scar that you can conceal with makeup than a large hideous raised black mole. It is also starting to get more raised.
----------

You can have it frozen off. It will not leave a scar. It's a fairly simple procedure, I've had it done a few years ago.  (+ info)

How do i go about removing a mole?

I really don't want surgery, and i really don't want to collect lots of items which i don't need - just a simple product. My mole is on my face, just by my chin. I remember my dad saying that he had this mole-freezer thing which froze a mole, and then it would fall off a few days later.
----------

I don't really believe it but this is the natural way to remove a mole, personally i would suggest seeing a doctor.

Instructions
Things You'll Need:
Cider vinegar
Garlic
Cotton swabs
Fig stems
Blender
Castor oil
Cauliflower
Bandage
Pineapple
Honey
Step 1
Observe the size and color of your moles. Visit a dermatologist or a surgeon to inquire whether the moles need surgical treatment. If yes, get them removed professionally. If no, take steps to remove them naturally.

Step 2
Prepare a list of items useful in removing moles naturally. Cauliflowers, garlic, pineapple, castor oil, honey, fig stems and hot water with vinegar are considered effective in mole removal. Select only one from the mentioned items.

Step 3
Prepare cauliflower juice in a blender. Rub the juice on your moles daily until the skin peels off naturally.

Step 4
Grind a few pieces of garlic into a paste. Apply the paste on your moles and cover it with a bandage. Do this at night and remove the bandage next morning.

Step 5
Make fresh pineapple juice daily. Apply the juice to the moles until they weaken and disappear.

Step 6
Rub castor oil on the moles gently for few days until they gradually weaken and disappear.

Step 7
Apply honey on the moles daily.

Step 8
Wash the moles with hot water five to six times a day. Let your skin dry, then apply cider vinegar to your moles with cotton swabs. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then rinse with cool water.

Step 9
Make juice from fig stems (if you can find any in your area) and apply it daily to the moles until they vanish.

How long does it take for a cauterized mole to heal?

I had surgery two weeks ago to remove a mole. They cauterized the area (no bleeding or complications.) It is making light scabbing around the edges but the center is somewhat yellow. Is this normal and how much longer before it heals?

How do you fade a mole without removing it?

How do you fade the colour of a mole? Perhaps turning it from a dark brown to a light light brown? How can you do that so it blends with your skin pigment? I don't want to remove it because I don't want unnecessary scarring but I just want to dim out the colour since it's a tiny mole (about the size of the tip of a pencil).

Any answers will be appreciated, best answer will be chosen, thanks.

What does it mean when a small area of a mole that I've at for at least 3 turns slightly darker?

I used to have a mole that was somewhat shaped like a heart. But now that spot is being filled so now the mole looks more like a circle/oval. Is a possible for a part of a mole to go from lightish to dark(matching the rest of the mole) in a month with out it being a problem?
Actually, looking at it again. It looks either the same, or even slightly smaller.
----------

Run, do not walk, to your doctor. This is likely to be a sign of some form of skin cancer. I'm not a doctor qualified to give medical advice but I am about to undergo my 4th operation for skin cancer. Do not delay even one more day is my advace as a layman.  (+ info)

How does one keep a hair growing from a mole ?

One hair dark and stiff like a wisker grows from one mole. Constant plucking and getting the root. It keeps growing back, how can I stop it from growing back ?
----------

clipping, shaving, waxing, tweezing are practical but not really that advisable. It's suggested that you go to a dermatologist instead.  (+ info)
