What are the signs of antibiotic-associated enteritis and enterotoxemia?

What causes this enteritis and toxemia?

Rabbits, guinea pigs, and hamsters rely, to a large part, on the normal bacteria in their digestive system for the digestion of their food. These bacteria are usually in the group of bacteria called gram-positive. These beneficial and necessary bacteria break down the food, even diets high in fiber, so that both the bacteria and the animal can absorb the nutrients. The fiber also stimulates the digestive system to move the food faster through the digestive tract (increases motility).

I went thru Barium meal about 4 hours, doctors occasionally checking x-rays or images of the bowel. After 10 days or so, I started seeing undigested food in my stools. Could it be because my GI tract exposed to radiation during Barium meal

Could you tell me what "proximal enteritis" means?

Proximal enteritis is an inflammation of the first section of the small intestine and is a very serious cause of colic, or abdominal pain, in the horse. No one really knows what causes proximal enteritis. Some veterinarians suspect that there is a bacterial cause, but no single definitive cause has been defined.  (+ info)

please react: anti-emetic to rehydrate children with gastro enteritis?

anti-emetics are drugs used to prevent vomiting of those undergoing chemotherapy...
i need your rections.what is the disadvantage and advantages of this discover specially to the third world countries... thank you
----------

Some of them are expensive but phenergan or compazine may be a good option IV. Zofran costs way to much as should be saved for chemo patients. If you have to give IV fluids you mine as well boost them with a little something to stop the throwing up to get them out of the cycle.

Oral medication such compazine (generic and comes in suppository form also) or meclizine (OTC) is a fairly inexpensive option. Biggest side effect of all of them drowsiness.  (+ info)

8 month baby with gastric enteritis and very sleepy?

Hi all,
My 8 month old daughter has not been well for 3 days now with diarrhoea and being sick.
She hasn't wanted any feeds or solids and when she does she's sick even with 1oz.
Took her to the doctors today and has diagnosed her with gastric Enteritis. She has had a Temperature of 38 but when at doctors it was 36. He has given her some dehydration salts for drink as she is dehydrated. She isn't herself as she is normally mumbling to herself and dancing to guess with jess but she is very sleepy and floppy.
When i change her nappy her legs even flops and she is very quite.

I'm very worried as she wakes up, stares into space and then goes back to sleep again and now normally she is lively.

Can anybody shred some light on this please and give me some advice.

Regards
Laura

Why are you wasting time asking the general public such a question? If your baby is still sick and you are really worried - take her to the nearest Accident & Emergency department at the hospital. Hopefully by the time you read this, your daughter will be getting better.  (+ info)
