hmm well im not a doctor, and id say that it probably wasnt anything serious if it werent for the fact that you're having trouble hearing. get yourself to an ear, nose, throat specialist soon, i think. they'd find the source right away.  (+ info)

earache???? :(?

I have been having earaches at least 5 times a day and it hurts but not so much just like a small sharp pain for a little while and then it will be over but im getting worried on what is going on with my ears especially my right one. everytime i eat something that is cold or from the fridge, my ears get stuck and i start to have an earache again. im really scared... really...... my mum says im overreacting but i keep telling her im not this is serious and she doesnt want to take me to the doctor, i have had this for over 3 weeks it should have healed by now and its getting on my nerves not knowing whats in it. I clean my ears everyday with those white cotton sticks.

I want to know what exactly is wrong with me and how serious it is. thanks

I don't know how old you are so all I can do is guess. If you are about 16 - about 24, you could be starting to cut your wisdom teeth. The nerve runs through your jaw and into the same area as your ear. If you are about 12, you could be cutting your 12 year molars. These are just guesses. Check your gums at the back of your current teeth. You might feel it slightly swollen, with or without pain when you push on it. As the teeth are trying to come up they can really cause some pain. Ear pain can be associated with cutting jaw teeth. Good luck, Rail  (+ info)

What can I do about an earache/ear infection without going to the doctor?

Are there any over the counter medicines or old remedies that could possible get rid of an earache/ear infection?
----------

Really about all you can do besides getting antibiotics is treat the symptoms and keep the nasal passages clear which will help the Eustachian tubes to drain a little. I have heard of an oddball remedy for sinus infections (often sinus infections can lead to an ear infection). A friend told me when he was younger a friend's dad helped him get rid of a sinus infection by inflating some kind of nasal expander in his sinus passages, and then gave him a pill that helped him sleep. And the infection was gone in a few hours. The idea was that all the bacteria laden gunk was cleared allowing proper drainage.

Other than that helpful things may be sleeping so that the head is at an angle by making sure to have a pillow behind the neck, and typical cold remedy type things like humidifiers. Spray decongestents like Afrin can help in the short term.  (+ info)

Ear Infections and Aches
Ear troubles occur mostly due to bad cold. Sometimes the child will refuse to eat and may pull his ear. Never neglect a bad ear. Most of the cases of deafness can be due to ear infections in the early years.
Many young children are partially deaf because of blows they have received on the side of the head. These blows can easily damage the delicate hearing mechanism. Sometimes children stuff some foreign object into the ear canal and then forget all about it. After a few days the child may complain of earache and there may be foul discharge.
During childhood, ear infections occur after measles, chicken pox, mumps, or the common cold. Chronic tonsillitis and other infections may spread to the Eustachian tube and cause pus to accumulate in the middle ear cavity, which is known as otitis media.
Wax normally protects the ear canal from infection and injury, but when too much wax is present it should be gently removed. Do not attempt to dig the wax out yourself. You may puncture the drum and produce a middle ear infection, which might lead to permanent loss of hearing.
Sometimes the ear canal becomes badly swollen and infected particularly after prolonged swimming. This is known as otitis externa. There is severe pain and there may be tender lymph nodes behind the ear and in the neck.
Older people with nerve deafness often complain of ringing in the ears. Nerve deafness may also arise from hardening of the arteries. As the condition progresses, the patient may not be able to distinguish between such common sounds as the ringing of the doorbell, the tickling of the watch, or the sound of the telephone.
Other causes of nerve deafness arise from skull fractures following falls and traffic accidents, especially if it involved auditory, or hearing nerve, or the blood vessels leading to the inner ear.

Any solutions to calm the pain of an earache?

I have had a severe earache the past few days. Went to the doctor yesterday for some antibiotics. He told me to take tylenol for the pain but it is barely dulling it. It is excruciating. Anyone have any homemade remedies that might either speed up recovery or help with the pain?

Thanks!

Use ibuprofen or naproxen in a prescription strength dose for the pain and use a heating pad.  (+ info)

I have an Earache is there any home remedies I can use?

Hi I woke up this morning with a nasty earache, and I can't afford the doctor so I was wondering if anyone had any home remedies I could use to get rid of this nasty little bugger?
----------

The blowdryer remedy work if there is water in your ear.
You can also put apple cider vinegar in your ear for 2mins (it hurts like h377 but works), then tip your head over the sink to let it drain then rinse it out with sea salt.
You can also juice a garlic and put garlic juice in your ear.
Both of these methods work i have used them myself.  (+ info)

How can you tell if baby's pain is caused by an earache or just plain teething?

My 14 month old is crying and seems to be in pain. I know she is getting her molars in, but she did have one earache a few months ago and the crying is similar to then. It isnt constant crying though. How can you tell if its one or another?
Oh, her twin sister has had a runny/goopy nose for the past couple of days and she is starting to get one too.

Sounds like your babies don't feel good. I would take them to the doctor immediately. When children have ear aches they pull and tug at their ears. Either way, take them to a doctor.  (+ info)

Why does hydrogen peroxide in the ear soothe an earache?

I have have had a sore throat and some ear pain for the last few days and turned to my trusty bottle of hydrogen peroxide for home remedy pain relief.

It works like a charm every time, but I am wondering why it works? Why does hydrogen peroxide soothe earache pain?
----------

well it's cool and so that may have something to do with it. or it could also be the fizzy aspect of it giving your ear drum a little massage or you may have had a swimmers ear situation going on and in that case the hydrogen peroxide will kill off the bacteria and solve the problem.  (+ info)

How to cure an earache or make the pain less painful?

my friend has a nose block and her throat is sore and a really painful earache any useful or helpoful advice please im begging i cant stand the way she looks!
----------

She may have some congestion in her ear. As long as she doesn't have high blood pressure I would take Sudafed 12 hour to relieve the pressure and congestion. Once the congestion is relieves, her ears should start feeling better. In most states Sudafed 12 hours is sold behind the pharmacy counter. Don't mix it up with Sudafed PE; this one doesn't work as well as the original Sudafed 12 hour. She can drink lots of water to get it into her system faster

She can also drop some sweet oil in her ear to relieve the pain. It's more like a natural remedy to help with ear aches. I would go to a pharmacy and see if they carry it  (+ info)
