Why do babies turn blue when the have blue baby syndrome and what caused baby blue syndrome?

The condition is called Tetralogy of Fallot. It is a heart defect which includes 4 defects. 1-The aorta if in the center of the heart as opposed to one side 2- there is a VSD present (a hole between the lower to chambers of the heart) 3- Swollen right side of the heart and usually 4-pulmonary stenosis is present. My son has a form of this defect called Tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia, meaning that on top of the 4 typical defects he also was born with no pulmonary valve. so he is not even 3 years old and has already had 3 heart surgeries. The surgery to "correct" this defect was not around until the 60's so anybody born before that would be blue for their entire life and die at a very young age, usually before the age of 10... Luckily Techonology has come very far and my son is doing amazingly.. But before he had his full corective surgery he was exactly as you described it a "blue baby"

Editing to add that- The reason why they turn blue is from lack of blood flow to the lungs because the oxygenated blod anf non oxygenated blood mix in the heart due to the placement of the aorta and the hole between the chambers.  (+ info)

I have a blue black (black coloured toe) on my toe. What should I do?

Hello guys I would appreciate any help from you. I just had a soccer game and my toe got hit HARD by an incoming player's foot resulting in black colored wound on my 2nd toe. What should I do?
----------

well if it's an open wound, clean it well, put neosporin on it and bandage it up, if it's just a bad bruise the best bet is to leave it alone.  (+ info)

My big toe is black & blue underneath the nail, and I'm freaking. Is this bad?

It looks like a bruise coming from the bottom corner of my big toe nail on my left foot. I'm gonna guess that this is from wearing borrowed sneakers waaaay too small for me while running multiple times. (bad mistake) Will it heal on it's own or is this bad?!?!
----------

just relax, that just blood underneath your nail. it will go away on its own. if it is throbbing and very painful you can release the pressure by heating a needle with a flame and pushing it through your nail. its kinda gross, some people can't do it to themselves, blood with squirt out but it will make it feel much better. i only do that when its really bad.  (+ info)

What causes the blue color in blue diaper syndrome?

I had never heard of this before so I did a search and I found this information: Blue diaper syndrome is a rare, genetic metabolic disorder characterized by the incomplete intestinal breakdown of tryptophan, a dietary nutrient. Symptoms typically include digestive disturbances, fever, irritability and visual difficulties. Some children with blue diaper syndrome may also develop kidney disease. Infants with this disorder may have bluish urine-stained diapers. Blue diaper syndrome is inherited as an autosomal or X-linked recessive trait.  (+ info)

What to wear with blue suede peep toe sling back shoes?

I bought these fabulous blue suede shoes...

http://www.bodenusa.com/col.asp?styid=AR351&segname=Women&segid=6&gpname=Shoes+%26+Boots&desname=Peep+Toe+Slingbacks&gpid=18&gen=&col=NAV

But I dont know what to weat them with.

Some advice says never wear with navy but I dont know what to contrast them with.

(I am in my 30s and tend to wear trousers rather than skirts)

thanks

They are really beautiful shoes :)

I'd recommend you wear them with grey slacks and a print top with navy accents (yes, navy, because the print will be dispersed enough and far enough from the shoes that they will complement each other -- though, check that there is not much of a contrast in color...).

Instead of the brown accents on this blouse, think blue (one that comes close to your shoe color or a not-so-dark navy). You can also add a blue bangle OR one blue/one white:

You may also want to pair the shoes with a monochromatic shirt/blouse+trousers in Black (or grey) and white (think solids, houndstooth, pinstripes, etc.), THEN accent it with a choker that matches your shoe color [Go ahead, take a shoe when you shop!! You love 'em, don't you??] AND a purse or clutch in a different material (patent or leather), otherwise, you'll look too "matchy-matchy" with a suede purse (this look appeals to some, though).

Imagine this with your blue shoes, blue choker and a blue belt perhaps??http://www5.jcpenney.com/jcp/ProductImageview.aspx?IT=G&ID=13a7c3b&MD=&GRT=ENS&E=F&SA=T&VT=ZV&I=0900631b813e002bM.tif&VAS=&AV=F&HM=T&RGB=&AS=&AST=&BID=&VID=&RU=http%3a%2f%2fwww5.jcpenney.com%2fjcp%2fX6E.aspx%3fpersist%3d1%257e50434%257e51281%257e%257eENS%257c13a7c3b%257e-1%257e%257e%26CmCatId%3dEXTERNAL%7c50443%7c51281&IRU=Y&CmCatId=EXTERNAL|50443|51281

Think of this with a scarf with blue accents:

You might even want to try it with a lighter blue (such as this one) in the same hue as your shoes (definitely take them when you go shopping!). Not necessarily in this style but think, color:

These are but a few of the mix and match possibilities I hope will tickle your mind into coming up with a few of your own.
I hope you find a match to your style and your personality. Those truly are adorable shoes!

Should I stay off my big toe thats black and blue but doesn't hurt?

I recently recieved a black toe on my big toe. I believe I recieved it from playing basketball. I read some things online and it seems that i've gotten it from my toes rubbing up against the top of the inside of my shoe. It's been black and blue for a while but it doesn't hurt anymore. Is there something wrong? should I ice it? Should I continue playing or will it worsen my toe? HELP!

Is wearing blue peep toe heels with a mustard hobo bag a cute idea?

i would be wearing either jeans or a black pecil skirt. the shoes are a deep blue patent leather and the bag is pleather and has no shine to it at all
----------

NO peep toe heels are something conservative and a MUSTARD colored hobo bag is something retro. wear it with ballet flats or something.  (+ info)

What color nail polish should i get to paint my toe nails, if my shoes are silver and my dress is blue?

I think that a french would look nice. It would be classy with your silver shoes, but wouldn't clash with your blue dress. Unless you want to make a strong statement and just paint your toes electric blue! (:  (+ info)

My little toe nail has been black and blue for almost a month? Please help!?

I hit my little toe on a radiator and it has been black and blue for almost a month. When will it go away, or will the toe just fall off? There are no signs of it going away anytime soon...
Thanks
----------

The black toe nail will gradually grow out and fall off after being replaced by new toe-nail. It happened to me before with my big toe, took months.  (+ info)

i bruised my big toe nail when a can fell on it its bruised light blue how long will it take to heal?

toe has a light blue bruise.
it has been hurting for 2 days since it happened.
its throbbing, hurts to move it.
a soup can fell of a shelf onto it.
do you think its broken?
will my toe nail fall off?
----------

well i have had that happend only 2 my fingernail. i dropped a rock on it and it turned blue and black. it took my nail about 3weeks to come of completly(after about 2 weeks it wuz half off) and from the way it sounds i dont think your toe is broken and i think you will loose your nail. but dont freak. Im only 12 and my finger nail came off about a month ago and it has almost grown all the way back. once you lose your toe nail i promise you it wont hurt, in fact it will feel a lot better. you just have to keep it covered so it wont get infected.  (+ info)
