how do you prevent athletic injuries?

I am involved in many activities (soccer, basketball, swim team, horse-riding, etc) my main activity is soccer but i seem to always get injured. is their a way to help prevent these things from happening? i have had many fractures and bone contusions, sprains, and "kincks" and i would just like to be able to play the game without thinking about how so and so hurts. Is their a way to increase your physical ability? i dont know why i always seem to get hurt i wonder if it is because i am overweight or something...any ideas or tips? thx

Stretch more, drink more water, and warm up slower. If you play hard, getting banged up is part of the game.

Injuries are not. If you're truly injured, you need to stop and take time to heal before you keep going. Maybe you should drink more milk and increase your Vitamin D if you're getting actual bone fractures from soccer and basketball.  (+ info)

What is the immediate first aid for most athletic injuries?

Stop using the injured part.

RICE it:

Rest it.
Ice it for 15 minutes at a time.
Compress it. (Put an ace bandage on it)
Elevate it above the level of the heart.

Take ibuprofen or aspirin. See a doctor ASAP if it's a head, neck or back injury, causes difficulty breathing or unconsciousness, or if there's a chance it's a broken bone or dislocation.  (+ info)

I have athletic injuries (tendinitis and a torn acl) will HGH help me recover?

Not a bit. Only time and physical therapy can really heal these. Have you had surgery on your ACL? If so, you're halfway there already!  (+ info)

i want to do something that deals with athletic injuries or dealing with the body science..any suggestions?

ive heard lots of people talk about how chiropractic is dead and how physical therapy is too much work...is this true, if so do u have any other suggestions for a field of business i could go into?
----------

I don't think chiropractic is dead as long as you specialize in a particular field like sports injuries. The chiropractor that I go to also does soft tissue work to break up scar tissue from athletic injuries. Most top pro athletes have a soft tissue specialist, it's a must these days. My chiro does ART (active release therapy) this is growing field and if I was younger, I'd look into being an ART practitioner myself. Best of luck in finding your perfect fit - I think you're going in the right direction.  (+ info)

I need to hypothetically diagnose and treat an athletic injury, any ideas?

If you have any easy ideas of what I should choose or talk about, please tell, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
----------

achilles tendonitis or an achilles rupture is fairly easy to diagnose and treat. there is tons of stuff online about it. you can talk about like with the tendonitis why many doctors call it tendinopathy and the differennce between tendonitis and tendonosis, what puts someone at risk for an achilles rupture, the type of physical therapy needed for both etc. etc.
get researching!! =) good luck!  (+ info)
