What am I at risk for? Those with med. background come here..?

MOTHER'S SIDE
My grandmother - breast cancer, skin cancer
My mother - high blood pressure, smoker, depression
My aunt (mothers sister) - severe arachnaphobia (Dr. diagnosed)

FATHER'S SIDE
My grandfather - died of heart attack
My grandmother - bad knees, two knee replacements on each knee, very overweight
My father - Wegener's granumalotsis, vasculitis, smoker
My uncle - prostate cancer
My uncle (father's brother) - died of brain aneurysm

SIBLINGS
My younger brother - benign rolandic seizures
My older brother - mild asythma

I am a 16 year old female. My question... what am I at risk for? Are any of the things heriditary? Because my brothers have things, does that mean I could develop the same things later? Should I get medically evaluated more than normal people because of my weird family's things?

Just curious.. anyone with medical knowledge's advice would be appreciated :)
oops forgot my grandfather on my mothers side.. he had very bad back problems. i don't remember what he died from though.. just complications i think.

also my father has had hernias (sp?) i dont really know what they are, and he has scoliosis
i'm white. i live in southern new hampshire. the area is healthy. i did use to drink our tap water which has a high lead content (but still under legal limit of course) but have since switched to bottled water.

Both cancer and heart conditions, as well as obesity are the main things for you to watch out for.

As long as your doctor knows your family history and you have regular check up's, you wont need to worry as much as you are.

Keep yourself healthy by eating healthy, being active and refraining from smoking, drugs and alcohol. Those all contribute over time.  (+ info)

Do you know anyone who has Vasculitis ?

My dad was diagnosed with Wegeners granulomatosis vasculitis about 4 1/2 years ago at that time he was given 6mth to a year to live thankfully God has blessed us and he is still with us but he is still battleing this disease to this day he has never went into remission it took his kidneys shortly after his diagnosis and he has been on dialysis since it has moved into his lungs but so far they have been able to keep that part of it somewhat in control and we think it may have moved into his sinuses recently he has such a hard time with this disease and has pretty much been given a death sentence by the doctor twice once in the begining and again about a year later but he has kept fighting and is still here he is still on chemo but the last time when it was time to start chemo again the doctor was wanting to back off from it which is very scary i would like to hear others experience with this good or bad you dont have to spare me i already know its an ugly thing to deal with -thank you!!

People with Rheumatoid Arthritis have vascular disease, as in vasculitis, or inflammation of the vascular system. I have RA, so am prone to it, but to date am doing fine. Had a few blips with my kidneys, heart, lungs in the past but was able to control the problem. I am but 48 hoping to make 49, but am not looking forward to this problem. I expect your father will go through flare ups and remissions, but allow the Doc to make the decisions.  (+ info)

Has anyone done any vitamin/herbal detox for the lymphatic system? My lymph nodes in under my?

jaw/neck area have been hard for years! I have been to the doctor to get a sonogram, all they did was confirm that they were swollen! When I am stressed, upset, or sick they become painful. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem, and if a lymph node detox actually worked for you. If you tried something else that helped I'd love to hear it as well.

Additional info: this started after my 3rd surgery (sinus)...was on prednisone for a couple years (low dose) for what they later diagnosed as Wegner's Granulomatosis. I'm fine now, no meds, but the glands are not right. -Thanks!
Let me clarify, I asked this question in the Alternative Medicine section for a reason, and that reason was to avoid people who like to push toxic drugs onto everyone they can. If I wanted to hear Medical comments, I would have filed this question under Medical Advise or similar. Thanks!
Oh! so when I go to the doctor's office and they take forever getting in the room, this is why! They're on Yahoo Answers, answering questions that do not apply to them, I see! Thanks for the clarification ;)

Am I suffering from depression or is this normal?

I was always a happy person and someone who always thought of the positive in negitive situations.

3 months ago, my grandmother was diagnosed with a rare fatal disease called wegener's disease and she went down hill FAST. She went from cutting her grass with a push mower to so weak she couldn't even get up off the couch. She has been in the hospital on and off all summer. I was distanced from my friends because i was just so upset and worried that I just didn't want to talk to anyone!

Now school has started and it's getting worse...and so is my grandmother. Some days we think she's getting better then other days she is in the hospital because she can't breath!

Anyway, I get aggravted so easy and I just want to punch everyone! lol I know it sounds funny, but it's true. I also don't want to be around anyone much. I'd rather be alone. And when i'm alone I cry for nothing. Well I cry because I feel so stupid, but normally before all of this I wouldn't cry because of that! I also have trouble getting up for school in the mornings and when i get the chance I sleep all the time! And I'm not saying i'm suicidal or anything because the last thing i want to do is hurt myself, but i can't help myself but thinking about how everyone would be without me and i think about why my friends are even friends with me!

is this normal? will it pass? or is it something serious?
----------

It's not abnormal, but you have a right to be happy.

Who are some really deeply, happy people that you know? Do you know any? If you do, figure out what makes them happy. Maybe it's a faith system, meditation, a consistent outlook on life, etc. I'm not talking about a superficial happiness, but a deep inner sense of joy. We all have it, and all have a right to tap into it, despite the outside circumstances of our life.
I think the same thing that prompted you to ask this question will help you find your key to happiness. You can feel in your core that it's just not normal to feel frustrated and want to punch people out. Of course we all feel that at times, but it's not who or how you were meant to be!
Anyway, I think I'm rambling a little now, but do seek help. And I don't necessarily mean medical or psychological help, but demand joy for yourself, and explore some resources to help you find it.
The internet has many a dark and confusing path, but it can also be a great resource to explore ways that others have succeeded in finding true happiness.  (+ info)

How to ask for pain meds?

I have a disease called Wegener's Granulamotosis and with it comes very bad headaches, nose, eye and ear pains and the doctors I see know this very well but yet they are hesitant to prescribe me pain meds. I know the reasons are because of my age(21) and the recent craze for prescription drugs but it is really irritating when I actually need it and they wont prescribe it. Also, I have a high tolerance for pain meds ie Tylenol 3, darvocet etc the only ones that I have been prescribed that have actually helped were vicodin and percocet but they refuse to fill them. I have had to resort to getting them illegally and im really not proud of that. Plz anything would help.
----------

You face the same problems I have after 5 lower back surgeries. I go to PM and get the same treatment. They look at me and act as if I'm some sort of dope fiend needing a fix. The pain is real but their treatment is a joke. I have resorted to buying them off of people who get them and don't need them. Beyond going to another doctor or PM therapist your only recourse is to buy them any ways you can get them and I know it makes you feel like a dirt bag but you have to realize as I have that your hurting and you need to be out of pain to perform your day to day tasks.

Becareful doing this because its not safe and its very expensive as Im sure you aware of. It's not fair but its life my friend.  (+ info)
