My boyfriend has a white lesion on the head of his penis, near where it contacts the shaft itself. It is round and white, looking almost like an old ringworm lesion. We have tried antibacterial creams and nothing has worked. Both of us are STD free. Now the lesion is spreading, and he has inflamed, hardened veins in the shaft itself, near the base. Any clues? He has an appointment with a dermatologist Monday, but is there another type of doctor we can see? Any help would be great.
I would be interested in a few more details about the sore,how long has it been there,does it come and go,is there a slightly raised circular part with a stubborn whitehead in center that is very painful if touched or it rubs on clothing?When did he notice it for the first time,and was it smaller at first or has it changed its appearance in any way. Can I use the miconazole nitrate 2% vulvar cream inside my vagina? One of the suppositories fell in the toilet?

I bought the Monistat 3 Day suppository combo pack with the tube of vulvar miconazole nitrate 2% cream. I dropped one of the suppositories in the toilet accidentally and want to know if I could just use some of the cream with the applicator to substitute. I'd really like to finish treatment and thought the vulvar cream and suppositories are made of the same thing.
You can use the cream internally but it won't be very effective.
The best thing I've found for a yeast infection is plain yogurt. Yogurt contains the bacteria that naturally lives on your vulva and controls the growth of yeast. When you have time, wipe some on and leave it for a few minutes then wipe off with a damp cloth or paper towel. Make sure you're thoroughly dry before putting underwear back on!
Repeat this for 2-3 days and you'll be good to go :]
I've tried the miconazole nitrate stuff before, and it does kill the yeast but seems to upset my entire pH balance for a long time. The yogurt puts the pH and biological balance back where it belongs. If you have recurring yeast infections, try using talc (baby) powder daily to keep you dry. Yeast loves warm, most environments, so the talc is a great preventative!

How long does it take for Lichen Planus to be treated?2-What is the treatment to remove the spots completely?

I'm 25 years old and it is about 8 months that I'm sufferring from Lichen Planus.I went to doctor and it stopped improving but it is about 1 month that the spots are reappearing .Moreover, the spots that were previousely healed are still on my skin . How these brown spots can be removed for ever?
Takes about 2 months for them to dissapear. You will have tiny white spots after that. In flourescent lighting they can show up big time. So if you go to a place with those lights cover up.  (+ info)

How would a physician differentiate between eosinophilic esophagitis and severe oral lichen planus?

I am diagnosed with only oral lichen planus, never had a purple papule on flexor surfaces. I have no lower esophogeal sphincter tone, and severe esophagitis.
The physician would use Gastroscopy.

I have a combination of muscle spasms in my vagina, as well as vulvodynia/vestibulitis. I have been treating it with Amitriptyline for over a year now but am sick of taking that pill. Has anyone ever been diagnosed with the same problems and take something else that works good for controlling vaginal/vulvar discomfort?

Excuse me, I do not want to say my age, but i have been having vulvar itching for a week or 2 now. Every time i itch, it hurts really badly. I have tried leaving it alone, taking warm baths, it hurts all the time. It is also a little red. Please, is there any creme i can use that will take away this pain?

I would like all the advice I can get. I have been seeing my dermatologist about this for 6 yeras. They do not know what causes it and how to cure it for sure, so I was wondering if anyone has had experience with Lichen Planus or know of someone that does. If so, please share your story with me.

I woujld like to find a mouth rinse or something to ease the discomfort of lichen planus from my mouth...I hate it!!
Lidocaine mouthwashes. Your doctor or dentist will be able to prescribe them to you. Follow the directions that the prescription is written for. The lidocaine will numb the mouth area and help make you feel a little bit more comfortable.
Ask your dr about predisone, a pill that is a steroid to help reduce inflammation. It may help also.
There is no cure for lichen planus according to a few websites I looked at. A few stated that it normally goes away on its own, but the oral form is usually worse than the skin form.  (+ info)
