What, other than milk, should you drink if you have ingested a harmful chemical and already induced vomiting?

If you ingest chemicals you are supposed to induce vomiting, then drink milk. What if you are lactose intolerant? Is there something other than milk you could drink?
----------

Call Poison Control: 1-800-222-1222. For some chemicals you do not induce vomiting and for some you need a lot of water instead of milk. They can tell you based on what the chemical is.  (+ info)

Can my 8 month old have rotavirus without having vomiting?

My son has had diarrhea for a couple of days and everyday it is getting worse and worse. It smells horrible (way worse than normal) and he is going 10 times a day. I think it might be rotavirus but there isn't any vomiting. He is not dehydrated so I am not too concerned but I am just curious on when it will go away!
----------

Rotavirus is of course, a virus. Rotavirus causes severe diarrhea, and mainly affects babies and children 5 years of age and younger. Rotavirus also causes vomiting and fever, along with the diarrhea. Rotavirus is a very severe form of diarrhea, though it is not the only cause of diarrhea, it is one of the worst.

So I would strongly take your son to a doctor because there is a vaccine for Rotavirus. Babies are only allowed to get the vaccine up until they are 32 weeks old. The vaccine is not a shot, it is given orally in 3 doses. About 74% of children who have received the vaccine never acquire Rotavirus, and about 98% do not get a severe case of Rotavirus. Keep in mind that hand washing and sanitation have not been very successful ways of lessening the chance of getting Rotavirus.

Rotavirus diarrhea usually lasts from 4 to 6 days, but may last longer and cause intermittent diarrhea in children who have compromised immune systems.

Rotavirus Diarrhea Treatment Tips (for older kids)

1. Wash raw vegetables thoroughly before eating.

2. Avoid unpasteurized (raw) milk or foods made from unpasteurized milk.

3. Wash hands, knives, and cutting boards after handling uncooked foods.

4. Avoid getting fluid from hot dog packages on other foods, utensils, and food preparation surfaces.

5. Do not eat soft cheeses such as feta, Brie, and Camembert, blue-veined cheeses.

6. Do not eat refrigerated pâtés or meat spreads. Canned or shelf-stable pâtés and meat spreads may be eaten.

7. Do not eat refrigerated smoked seafood, unless it is contained in a cooked dish, such as a casserole.

8. Fruit juices and soft drinks can make diarrhea worse and should be avoided.  (+ info)

Does an episode of vomiting and diahrea affect birth control?

I had an episode of vomiting and diahrea one day that last for a few hours, 3 hours before I take my pill. I was wondering if my birth control (Loestrin24) its effectiveness was altered in anyway?
----------

As it was 3 hours before you took your pill you should be fine. If it had happened just after you took your pills you might have lost the pill.
Whenever you are in any doubt at all that your pill may not have been absorbed just use a back up contraceptive for the next 7 days.  (+ info)

Would a stomach flu with several bouts of vomiting cause laryngitis?

I had a 24 hour stomach flu with several bad bouts of vomiting. Two days later I still have a throat irritation and laryngitis. I figured I strained my throat with the hard vomiting but could it be what is causing the laryngitis too? Other than no voice, I feel okay now.
----------

Yes it could. The acid from your stomach can burn your vocal cords. If this last more that four days see your doctor,pp  (+ info)

What causes head aches and vomiting that is constant?

I have been having huge headsches and been vomiting ove the last week and I live to far away from the nearest place to see a doctor. I just want to know what it is and i want to get better. Im doing home schooling and i cant even concintrate on my school work. some one please help.
Also i have been shakey and over heated while every one else is cold.
A few days ago there was a little bit of blood in my vomit.
----------

When you start to vomit from headaches I would be very concerned. I know it is far away but your health is very important and I would suggest you see a doctor or go to your nearest hospital emergency room at least for someone to take a look at you. Better to be safe than sorry. Do you have any other symptoms?  (+ info)

How do you stop reoccurent vomiting episodes?

My husband works in a very hot environment and about once a month goes through episodes of vomiting and muscle cramps, weve tried eletrolyte drinks. Anyone have any other ideas??
----------

Yes, check with the doctor for virus infections, food poisoning, skin infections, etc. The sun can be cancerous during most of the day time, and if he's expososed to that then he has a higher chance if getting harmed by it.   (+ info)

Would vomiting speed up the recovery of a stomach flu?

They say a stomach flu goes for 24-36 hours. What if you hold yourself from vomiting, would the stomach flu go for long?

Cos the last time I had a terrible stomach flu, I never vomited, even though it was a bad one (with aches, fatigue, fever and them) with severe nauseas. I stopped myself from vomiting by hypnotizing myself. And it went for two weeks and came back a month later. Is it because I didn't vomit?
----------

It wont make a difference whether you sick or not.  (+ info)
