How can I relieve symptoms of moderate to severe nausea and vomiting? Do I need to see a doctor?

My girlfriend has been vomiting since 10:30 this morning. We both ate the same piece of fruit for breakfast and I'm fine. We ate different dinners though that was 11:00 last night. She feels dizzy and a little feverish. Can you give us some advice to relieve symptoms or help her get better? Thank you.

Is it normal to have cramps accompanied with vomiting in my 26th week of pregnancy?

I am in my 26th wk & have had what feels like menstrual cramps for about the last 6-7 hrs. Also, earlier when the cramps had just begun, I felt suddenly ill & vomited. I called & spoke with a nurse at my dr.'s office & she didn't seem alarmed & told me to rest. She said I may have a bug. The vomiting went away but I still have the cramps though. Is this normal?

yeah!! im 34 weeks and i have cramping all the time. For me its because the baby is settling down into my pelvis. also the leg cramps might be a Charlie horse. some pregnant women get that!  (+ info)

What do you do when vomiting has caused your throat to get raw?

I currently had the flu pretty bad and excessive vomiting has caused my esophagus to be pretty raw, it feels like I have indigestion everytime I eat and if I burp it feels like it's acidy, what do I do to help it heal itself and how long does this process normally take?
----------

Drink hot water with lemon and honey or suck throat pastilles for your throat. Try to eat very little (just a few spoons) but often (every 1-2 hrs) to start. If you have been off your food, it takes a few days to get your stomach used to metabolising again. Dry bread, crackers and watery soups are an easy introduction and help to take care of the acid reflux.  (+ info)

How likely is vomiting while on the birth control pill?

I was wondering, is it more or less likely to get vomiting as a side effect from an antibiotic rather than the birth control pill?

And if less likely, how likely is it to get vomiting as a side effect from the birth control pill?

Is it possible to have nausea, vomiting and headache 10 days after having several teeth pulled?

I had several teeth pulled over 10 days ago and am still having nausea, vomiting and headache. Seven days after the extractions I ended up in the hospital over night dehydrated and my potassium was very low. That was three days ago and I am still sick. I am not taking any pain pills or antibiotics and there is no infection.
----------

Possibly a reaction to the anesthetic. You should have been taking an antiemetic. Try Emetrol and take something for the headache. Also report this to your oral surgeon on Monday.  (+ info)

How long am I supposed to stay off work with diarrhoea and vomiting?

I had been woken up with a grumbling stomach at 3am Saturday morning was vomiting and rushing to the toilet with diarrhoea. Yesterday I had not eaten anything but an apple although I made sure I drank lots. This morning I managed half a bowl of muesli. NHS direct guidelines say 24hours after being clear of diarrhoea and vomitting You should stay away from work for 48hours. Is this true?
----------

You need to leave it 48 hours after your last symptom.  (+ info)

Is there any secrets to prevent vomiting when you drink?

I love drinking. Alcohol is the nectar of the Gods. But I have one fear in this world, and that is vomiting. I hate it, I cannot stand throwing up, and I dont know how many other people are like me. Is there a way to drink, and get pretty drunk, and not feel it the next day, or throw up afterwards?
----------

There is. The beautiful secret. THE ONE AND ONLY TRUE SECRET.

How do I prevent myself from vomiting?

Whenever I give myself an enema I begin to throw up uncontrollably. It happens much more often if I've had a recent meal, but also happens early in the morning when I've had nothing to eat for half a day. How do I stop myself from vomiting or is there something I can do to prevent it?
----------

The first time I read your question I was thinking you are overfilling yourself with the enema. I am wondering if you are using enemas as a means of weight control. If so, you need to seek medical help because you may have an eating disorder.  (+ info)

What to do after four hours of vomiting and a fever?

If someone has had no appetite all day and more recently has been vomiting on and off for four hours and complains of a fever and stomach pain, should you drive them to the hospital right away or wait a bit longer and see if they feel better? If you should wait, how much longer should you wait?
@klayco- What are symptoms of dehydration?
----------

It depends on whether that person has been able to take in any fluids, keep them down and not vomit them back immediately. It also depends on how high the fever is and how long he/she has had a fever. It could be a stomach bug, but it may be more than that. Ex: food poisoning or appendicitis. A temperature of 101 degrees Fahrenheit or over for any lenth of time with a poor intake of fluid may need to be hydrated with intravenous fluids (fluid through a vein). Is there a family physician that you could call? If so call him/her and get advice on what to do. If there isn't a physician that you can call, take the person to the ER or a Walk in Clinic to be evaluated.

Symptoms of dehydration are:
Dry or sticky mouth
Low or no urine output; concentrated urine appears dark yellow
Not producing tears
Sunken eyes
Markedly sunken fontanelles (the soft spot on the top of the head) in an infant
Lethargic or comatose (with severe dehydration)
Confusion (with prolonged dehydration)
In addition to the symptoms of actual dehydration, you may also have vomiting, diarrhea, or the feeling that you "can't keep anything down," all of which could be causing the dehydration.
