Does a deficiency of vitamin K lead to Parasites and Candidiasis or is it vice versa?

Does a lack of vitamin K create an environment favorable for parasites and candida, or is it the opposite. Do parasites and candida lead to a deficiency of Vitamin K?
----------

From what Ann Louise Gittleman states in one of her books on detoxing, Vitamin K is produced in the small intestines. If one had a compromised intestinal flora due possibly to parasites and/or candida, then it makes sense that one would not be able to produce Vitamin K.

I've also read that the B Vitamins are responsible for producing strong stomach acid and a lack of adequate stomach acid can allow parasites, and bacteria to grow.  (+ info)

How do i know if i have a certain vitamin deficiency?

5 months ago I dyed my hair, since then I have been shedding hair. I try to find the culprit, but can't. So I'm wondering if I have a vitamin deficiency somewhere? I have been taking pre natal vitamins since then, but am still shedding. I not under any stress. Does anyone know what this could be from? And if it is a certain vitamin deficiency than what test need to be run and who should i go to too see what I am lacking? Also, all blood work came back fine.
Also, hair is coming out by the root, or the little white bulb at the end. I don't know if thats the same.
----------

As a hairstylist, I first evaluate the hair condition. If it's not hair loss due to breakage from damage, I ask the following:

Are you wearing your hair in a pony tail more than you used to?

Are you wearing your hair curly more often?

Are you shampooing less frequently?

If you answer yes to any of these questions, then it might just be that you only see your hair shed when you shampoo it. If hair is straight & you have your hands in it a lot, you won't notice when you drop hair.

Have you just had a baby/pregnancy?
Hormonal changes can cause temporary hair loss. Your body will correct itself in time.

Do you have an eating disorder? If you're not getting the proper nutrition, your body will not waste resources on producing hair (even if you take vitamins).

If this doesn't apply to you, I suggest you re-visit the blood work. Hypo-thyroidism can cause hair loss. Doctors argue about what's considered a normal level of TSH. Ask for a copy of your recent bloodwork to be mailed to you. It might be that what one Dr considers normal, another won't. You can read more by following the link below.

I was just looking at your history of questions. You sound like you could have a color allergy. This can cause scalp breakout, patchy hairloss, and an overall aggrivated scalp.
Oddly enough, I developed a color allergy (yep, I'm a hairstylist who can't color my hair) around the same time I was diagnosed with hypo-thyroidsm.
Doctors can't test for this allergy, you just have to monitior your own level of sensitivity.
Good luck!  (+ info)

What could be a possible reason for a vitamin D deficiency?

I drink milk everyday, I eat a vitamin D enriched cereal with milk, I take a multivitamin, and I eat yogurt, not everyday but at least twice a week.
Yet, I have a Vitamin D deficiency. What could the reason be?
I get a lot of sun too. I live in the south and I'm outside quite a bit.
----------

The best source of vitamin D is sunlight onto bare skin. Dietary sources are usually not that high in vitamin d, even if you eat all those things regularly would would maybe get 50% of your RDI from them. The highest dietary source is cod liver oil by far.

There are two types of vitamin D put in supplements, D2 and D3. D3 is the more natural form and is far more effective than the D2 variant as it converts to the usable form in the body at a much higher rate.

Also with supplements, the amount that actually get absorbs matters a lot too. I've been using nfuze (link below) which is the first multi-vitamin with nanotechnology for the maximum absorption of the vitamins and nutrients.

It can take a while to fix a vitamin D deficiancy, you would need to take either cod liver oil or something like nfuze and try and maximise your sun exposure for a while to get your levels right up.  (+ info)

Wat is the remedy for a pinched nerve or carpal tunnel syndrome (sp) Is it cos of deficiency of vitamin B-12?

You asked the right guy. I have pinched nerves all the time, had them since the late 70's, in fact. A pinched nerve is usually based in the spinal column as a result of two or more vertebrae becoming subluxated or mis-aligned. The usual relief for myself is to have the spine manipulated by a chiropractor or general physician to get the vertebrae off of the nerve that is affected.

I also have corpal tunnel syndrome and that is different. For all my working career I used to set up and run machinery and had to rely on strong wrists and hands in order to perform at a high level. Corpal tunnel affects many people in jobs that require repetitive motion.

I can't say one way or the other whether B-12 contributes to either condition, I don't recall ever being asked about my intake of such in all the visits I have had, so I doubt that it has any significant contributing factors about it.  (+ info)

Does sudden yellow teeth indicate a particular vitamin deficiency?

I've been an orange juice junkie my whole life, but I've been without it for a month now and just noticed my bottom teeth are definitely more yellow than before. I'm wondering if the two could be related. Is this a sign of a Vitamin C or some other vitamin deficiency?
----------

This is from http://en.allexperts.com/q/Dentistry-966/toddlers-teeth-turning-yellow.htm

says: The yellow color is probably a surface stain. It is certainly not from a nutritional or vitamin deficiency, nor is it a symptom of an illness.  (+ info)

Does a vitamin B deficiency occur when smoking pot?

Not only have I noticed that the detoxification cocktail is loaded with B vitamins almost exclusively, but the effects of smoking pot are similar to the effects of a vitamin b deficiency. Taking vitamin B can cure many of the side-effects of pot smoking. Are these things related? Does anyone else think this to be more than coincidence?
----------

Welli am NO medical doctor,.. nor have i done any research, however... i would assume that YES... it does. Whenever i have smoked and not taking my dialy vitamins, or exercised that day,.. i get a mild panic attack. Why? Well exercising and the vitamins raise your B levels, which also sustain a good hormone and energy level. SO i would assume.. yes, yes it does.  (+ info)

If I have a Vitamin D deficiency, will sitting in the sun more often help me?

I am well aware that I can take a supplement to get my Vitamin D, but I've read that sun helps with Vitamin D deficiency. Is this true?
----------

Yes.
You need to have your skin exposed (arms, legs) because your skin will synthesize vitamin D. Don't use sunscreen beforehand, and don't wash your skin for an hour after exposure to the sun. First your skin will make the D, then it has to assimilate, through your skin.
Good for you.  (+ info)

How can Vitamin D deficiency lead to iron deficiency?

Wikipedia says that "iron [is] often found to be poorly regulated or even deficient in Vitamin D deficiency." Does any one know why that is, how it happens?
----------

Vitamin D absorbs the Iron, so with little vitamin D most iron would just pass though your system.

It's the same with Calcium, Vitamin D is needed to absorb it.

Although you get Vitamin D from foods (the usual suspects those fruits and vegtables) you also get it from the suns rays.

It is also mandatory in Britain for Vitamin A & D to be added in margarine

Hopefully I got that right. It's almost 2 in the morning.  (+ info)

How do you know if you have a vitamin deficiency?

I'm always tired, confused, anxious and depressed. I've taken prescription meds for this, but they only help a little. Because of this, I have very little motivation to exercise even though I know it might help. A friend of mine experienced similar symptoms, and found out that she had a serious vitamin deficiency. How do you get tested for this?
----------

blood tests  (+ info)
