Is there anything else i can do to get rid of Trichomonas in addition to taking the medicine?

I am 17 and was just told yesterday that i have trichomonas. I have taken the prescription already which was only two pills. I was just wondering if there is anything else i can do to help get rid of the Trichomonas. Would douching be ok? . . .and does anyone know how long it takes to get rid of trichomonas? thanks
Take the full amount of medicine prescribed to you. This kind of infection may take time to treat.
Please do not douche. You will disrupt the level of bacteria in the vagina and potentially make things much worse. You may want to have your partner treated as well. If your partner isn't treated you may pass it back and forth to each other.

It is possible to see Trichomonas vaginalis on a pap smear. Trich is a gray colored, tiny, pear-shaped organism with a slit shaped nuclei. Also, the surrounding cells may have "nuclear halos".

Did you go to the Dr. and they diagnosed vaginitis? If they gave you an antibiotic that you insert vaginally, you may be reacting to it. What cream did they give you? You may have a urinary tract infection, but you would need to give a sample to have it checked. If you do have a UTI you would need an oral antibiotic. You can buy medication to help with the burning of a UTI. Go to the pharmacy and ask them for Uristat. Ask the Pharmacist if they have a generic available. You will need to take it with food, and it will turn your urine orange, and can stain your panties. If it does not help, you need to get into your Dr. Usually with a UTI your back may ache. I have been using the metronidazol for my infection since last 2 months and no improvment yet. it is very disturbing. what to do?
As a retired nurse epidemiologist there is either a misdiagnosis, reinfection by a partner not treated or the dosage is not high enough. None the less you need to go back to the doctor and let him or her know what you have written in your question. Trich is a parasite and sometimes it takes an alternative treatment.
If treatment failure occurs with metronidazole 2 g single dose and reinfection is excluded, the patient can be treated with metronidazole 500 mg orally twice daily for 7 days or tinidazole 2 g single dose. For patients failing either of these regimens, clinicians should consider treatment with tinidazole or metronidazole at 2 g orally for 5 days. If these therapies are not effective, further management should be discussed with a specialist. The consultation should ideally include determination of the susceptibility of T. vaginalis to metronidazole and tinidazole. trichomonas is the name of the genus of bacteria that causes this disorder. one would assume they used the same completely random system of 'thats totally unpronouncable, lets use that' for this name. It doesn't cure a bacterial infection. It's more of a way to prevent a bacterial infection by eating lots of plain yogurt or taking probiotics, but not a cure.

I've been to my gyno for this problem, but all he has perscribed to me is a cream, which hasnt worked. I saw an ad for enzara and i was wondering if anybody with my same problem has used this product and has seen results. And is there anything else, even alternative medicines or doctors, that works that somebody reccomends?
I was given medication to take (orally) for 7 days .(. metronidazole) I have had no problems since.

I've seen that the gel is not as efficient, what is the actual drug for erradicating this inffection?
