What is the best home-remedy for bladder infections? Or do you have to have antibiotics?

I know it is important to drink tons of water to flush the kidneys, but isn't pure cranberry juice good as well? I have heard yogurt is also helpful because it has the good type of bacteria in it to fight infections.
Any tips or advice?
----------

1) squeeze about half a cup of lemon juice and drink in the morning when you wake up. do this everyday for about 2 weeks and you will get rid of bladder infections for good.

2) asparagus. take about 5 or 6 asparagus stalks. boil them until
squashy. eat and drink the juice from the pot. do this about 2 or three times over a few days it should help clear it quick

3) baking soda dissolved in water (don't take if you have high blood pressure)

4) cranberry pills

5) apple cider vinegar: 2 tsp per glass with a tsp. of honey (the vinegar and honey reset your system)

6) parsley leaves what ever kind of parsley you have. boil water.. pour in cup . use just a small (emphasis on small) pinch of parsley and place it in the cup. let steep for a few minutes and you can either filter the parsley out or drink it. but this will relieve the discomfort of a bladder infection until you can see a doctor. do not use parsley if you are pregnant, this can / will induce labor. will work within 20 minutes to help with pain.
7) cantharis (homeopathic pills that can be bought online)

8) cashews / almonds

9) rhubarb

10) beer (when suffering a bladder infection, drink a beer. the yeast in the beer (any brand) works with your body for a quick recovery)

11) lots of water!!

12) crandophilius (take two capsules four times daily with a glass of water. drink 8-10 glasses a water each day. do not consume within 2 hours of taking antibiotics)

13) cranberry juice

14) pau d'arco tea. try to find pau d'arco tea in loose leaf. it is the inner bark of a tree that grows in south america so it will look kind of weird. pour boiling water over a tablespoon and let it steep for about 15 minutes. drink this 3 times a day in conjunction with other remedies. this works for a variety of illnesses as pau d'arco has antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties.

15) instant coffee. make sure to drink the coffee at one time, do not sip

16) take a teaspoon of baking soda and add it too a full glass of water. this will subside the burning sensation. do not use this method with cranberry juice, the two together will cancer out. also, don't use this to much, or if you are sensitive to salt  (+ info)

Is there anything else i can do to get rid of Trichomonas in addition to taking the medicine?

I am 17 and was just told yesterday that i have trichomonas. I have taken the prescription already which was only two pills. I was just wondering if there is anything else i can do to help get rid of the Trichomonas. Would douching be ok? . . .and does anyone know how long it takes to get rid of trichomonas? thanks
----------

Take the full amount of medicine prescribed to you. This kind of infection may take time to treat.
Please do not douche. You will disrupt the level of bacteria in the vagina and potentially make things much worse. You may want to have your partner treated as well. If your partner isn't treated you may pass it back and forth to each other.

Genieve,
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are caused by bacteria and are 10 times more common among women than men. The risk factors include - A new sex partner or multiple partners. More frequent or intense intercourse. Diabetes. Pregnancy. Escherichia coli (E. coli) often passed from the anus to the vagina by using toilet paper and wiping in that direction. Wiping in the opposite direction is recommended. Use of irritating products such as harsh skin cleansers. Use of irritating contraceptives such as diaphragms and spermicides. Use of birth control pills. Heavy use of antibiotics. A blockage in the urinary tract (benign masses or tumours). A history of UTIs, especially if the infections were less than 6 months apart.

How would you explain the importance of avoiding bacterial infections to a person with leukemia?

How would you explain to a patient with leukemia, who has a greatly elevated white blood count, the importance of avoiding bacterial infections?
----------

I agree with the others that they should have a low white blood cell count.

However, I would tell them its a matter of life or death, literally. During my leukemia treatment I got an infection while I was neutropenic. I went in to septic shock, was on life support for about two and a half weeks and very nearly almost died.  (+ info)

Does anybody know how to get rid of sinus infections and fluid build up, i think it might be Nasal polyp ?

Does anybody know how to get rid of sinus infections and fluid build up, i think it might be Nasal polyp ?
What is a good way to kill the bacteria besides over the counter drugs.I think i might have nasal polyp i google it up but has anybody really experience with the inffections.
1 second ago - 3 days left to answer.
----------

Have you ever been diagnosed with a nasal polyp? Nasal polyps are not common. If you think you have a sinus infection the best approach is nasal irrigation. Most sinus infections are caused by fungi not bacteria. Over the counter drugs, sinus medications and antibiotics don't work. You need to flush out the fungi and crusted material with nasal irrigation.A quart of mucous has to move through our sinuses every day. When the sinus cavities (there are four sets) get blocked the infected mucous drains down into your throat.) The nasal irrigation should help you get sinus relief right away. I rarely get any allergy symptoms. I don't get ichy eyes, running nose, or sneezing.
I dont know if the doctor just didn't do the operation right or what.

One of my answerers said that. I have a toe which is infected with puss and smells like a corpse. I've been to the doctors many times before and I can't handle anymore needle shots and the pain.

Can toe infections really lead to blood poisoning? What can you do to make to get rid of toe infections, without going to the doctors or cutting it off? How long will it take for the infection to go away.
----------

peroxide that toe.....all day, but go to your doc, are you resistant to antibiotics? take care and yes it could kill you, watch for a purple line running up your leg,, not good  (+ info)

How many ear infections does an infant need to have before i should get a referral to an ENT?

My son is 10 months old and has had 8 ear infections. When should I request a referral to a Pediatric Ear-Nose-Throat?
----------

There cannot be such parameters for consulting any specialist in the medical field. This is more so in the case of infants and children, where even a case of a pain in the ear also may have to be seen by an ENT specialist only.  (+ info)
