What are the post op recommendations for pulmonary valve stenosis repair in infants?

My son recently underwent open heart surgery for stenosis of one of the pulmonary valves. It has been a week and a half since that and I'm following all of the doctors orders, but I would just like to know if there is anything else I can do to help him recover better/faster.

It is always good to follow your doctors advice.  (+ info)

Is having a cervical spinal stenosis can be a valid reason to apply and won for SSS disability?

I had an MRI and it said that i have a moderate to severe cervical stenosis.
----------

If you are under 50 or 55 it would be very difficult to win a disability case for this. If you are over 55, haven't worked in the last 15 years and haven't completed high school, you would qualify.  (+ info)

where can I find a chat group for spinal stenosis?

I have tried to google this but I am looking for a group that someone has found to be helpful. Since being diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis and cant get any help that doesnt consist of multiple needles and thousands of dollars, I have only benifited one of these pain blocks. I am hoping to get advice from people that have been through it.
----------

Try this site, they have information, blogs, and a message board/chat area regarding spine health, including specific sections for spinal stenosis.

Though, while others can share information, and their experiences, without your specific information, nobody can determine what course is best for you. This is why, while it is good to have all the information possible, you need to discuss these matters with your personal physicians. Without your diagnostic test, history and physical examination, any suggestions made online should be considered as only additional information, and not advice.  (+ info)

What is the average lifespan of someone with Aortic Stenosis?

I'm 19 and was born with congenital aortic stenosis the symptoms are just moderate/serious at the moment. I just wanted to know what is my average life span, say with out any medication or operations?
I'm not worried, I'm just interested.
Well I am sort of worried it gets me down because it's really painful. :P
I dunno life expectancy, whatever?
----------

Nobody thinks of untreated life span these days. Good treatment is available. Some do well with just medications, others with balloon valvotomy or valve replacements. Anyway, with modern treatment, life span of a person with congenital aortic stenosis is pretty long for you to stop worrrying!  (+ info)

What are the treatments for neuroforaminal stenosis?

I'm a 35 year old mother of 2 little kids. Been having lower back pain for a long long time. recently been found out that I have " five lumber type vertebra. Moderate discogenic changes L5-S1 causing Neuroforaminal stenosis."

Is there cure for such condition?

thanks,
----------

These are MRI results ... the first part, "five lumbar type vertebra" just means that the radiologist is verifying he scanned the correct area. The second part "moderate discogenic changes L5-S1 causing neuroforaminal stenosis", means that your spine has shifted along the way and the disc in between the 5th lumbar vertebra and the 1st sacral vertebra is pushing a little bit on the spinal canal.

How bad the stenosis is would determine the treatment for this condition. Your orthopedic surgeon should be able to look at the MRI and determine what your best course of action is. There are any number of treatments which can help, from injections to therapy to surgery.  (+ info)

Would the amount of disability due to spinal stenosis be different whether married or not?

I am looking into trying to get disability due to spinal stenosis and I am married (this may change.) Does the amount you receive differ whether your married or not?

Thanks
----------

no. it's based on you alone. now as far as tax purposes go (U.S.) part or all of you disability could be taxable depending on total household income. even with disability you can work up to about $900 a month w/o affecting your payments.  (+ info)

Can you still work as an nurse's aide when you have spinal stenosis?

I have been a nurse's aides for years and I have been told that I have spinal stenosis. I am going to graduate for Database Design in one year, so I will not have to work as a nurse aide after that. Will I be able to work as a nurse aide for one more year without severe pain?
----------

I would guess that it depends on your present symptomology and current job demands. Some nurses aides end up just doing simple thing, yet others end up in physically demanding work.

I would also say the symptoms you are presently experiencing would determine you ability to continue at work. The present worker's compensation system recommends work as therapeutic, so as long as you are able to continue at work, you should do so.  (+ info)

Theres no such thing as average life span. There are lots of cases where people surpass them. Doctors are not always right. You can live as long as you dont give up.

You can get an aortic valve replacement. People 65 and older get that and still live so since your heart and body is young then you should have a long life.  (+ info)
