Is it possible to have an impacted wisdom tooth straighten and not removed?

I'm curious if it's possible to have a wisdom tooth straighten, one that's growing completely sideways parallel to the ground. I heard it was, with something involving reconstruction of alveolar bone.
----------

No it is not possible. The tooth will be impacted and most likely need to be removed.  (+ info)

About how much does it cost to get an impacted/unerupted tooth exposed in a surgery?

I am 14 and i have a tooth that has not erupted yet...
About how much does it cost to get surgery for it?
----------

Dental surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and Lasik surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for dental and Lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, Lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

About how long will i need to have braces for after surgery for an impacted tooth?

i have a palatally impacted canine tooth that is extruding through the roof of my mouth directly behind the baby canine. About how long will i need to have braces on after i have surgery for the impacted tooth?
----------

Is the surgery to bond a button to the impacted tooth ? This is normally what we do and if so , it's really hard to put a time frame on it. It could move into position within the first 6 months, but then need anywhere from another 12 to 18 months to get it aligned and all the other teeth into the right position since they now have a neighbor to make room for. You will be so happy with the outcome when it's all finished. Keep smiling............ and Good Luck  (+ info)

Is the removal of a complete bony wisdom tooth more painful than an impacted one?

I am having all four removed. My 2 upper are impacted. The lower left is complete bony and has a cyst around it, the lower right is completely bony and is horizontal. Is it more complicated, and painful for the lower 2?
----------

I wouldn't exactly use the terms of being more painful. It is going to require more work and usually the removal of more bone to get those teeth out. You should receive pain medication that will help you with post-operative discomfort. Don't forget the ice and keep yourself elevated to help with the swelling! P/S: if you're going to a surgeon relax, this is their job and this is what they do everyday. You're in good hands! Good luck!  (+ info)

Can I get adult braces even if I have a few cavities and an impacted tooth in the very back?

My teeth are very healthy and white except for a few minor cavities in the back and an impacted wisdom tooth. Can I have those problems taken care of AFTER the braces are applied? I need my teeth to get straightened as fast as possible! How much are braces with no insurance?
----------

The cavities must be treated prior to braces, braces hinder proper cleaning of teeth and will make the cavities worse. The impacet wisdom teeth will have to come out sooner or later so its best to just get them removed now. Impacted wisdom teeth have been show (not conclusively) that if left in place can result in crowding of lower front teeth later on in life...they seem to exert pressure on the adjacent teeth if they cant erupt.

Take care  (+ info)

I have to have surgery on an impacted i tooth, does it hurt?

i'm nervous about getting surgery on my impacted i tooth has anyone had that done, and does it hurt?
----------

I was fortunate enough to have 4 wisdom teeth, two were impacted. I was sedated for the removal of the wisdom teeth... i probably could have done it without sedation now. I think it was the fear of the unknown that made me scared about it. If you do not like drilling and cracking and noise then i suggest you get put to sleep, if that is not a problem for you then you will have no problem going under a local anesthetic. You will be amazed by how quickly it comes out! You will be numbed so you won't feel anything, and if you do feel pressure you just let the DR know and he will give you more numbing. After the numbness wears off it will be sore, there will be a hole in your gums for a few weeks. But as long as you do salt water rinses and take some pain killers if he Prescribes them to you, or you can take something with ibuprofen in it for swelling /pain. you will be fine.  (+ info)

Do they always put people out when removing a completely impacted tooth ?

By that I mean, the tooth is below the gum line.
----------

I had impacted tooth. On my lower set of teeth, the 2nd tooth from the back, I had my baby tooth and the impacted tooth horizontal laying in my gum under it. I got oral surgery done on it a year in a half ago.

To answer your question, you have a choice to be "knocked out" or just numbed. I chose numbed because I have a fear I won't wake up.  (+ info)

Can an impacted wisdom tooth cause numbness in my face, ear, and lip? Is it pressing on a nerve?

I've heard of numbness occurring after you have your tooth extracted due to nerve damage, but is it possible for the tooth itself to cause some nerve damage prior to the surgery? I've already arranged an appointment to have it removed, but I'd like to know if removing it will alleviate my problem or if there could be some other underlying cause.
----------

It is possible for it to happen, but its rare, see a dentist  (+ info)

Which one is more painful, having a root canal or impacted wisdom tooth extraction?

I am so scared of dentist... I had a root canal before but I never had any tooth extraction... all the more I never had an impacted wisdom tooth extraction...

how painful is impacted wisdom tooth extraction?
----------

It all depends on a person,on a tooth,on the area. Some root canals you don't feel anything but some infected teeth kill you by the time they calm down.During extraction you won't feel a thing.Specially when it's impacted they numb you real well.It starts hurting when the numbness wears off.So i am sure they will give you a strong painkillers for that.by the next day you'll feel much better.  (+ info)
