How much does a tongue piercing hurt compared to an eyebrow piercing?

I got my eyebrow pierced last night, and the worst part was the clamp. It hurt about the same as someone biting your eyebrow. I want to get my tongue pierced next week, since I've been planning on it for a while. On a scale of one to ten, the eyebrow was about a four. Just the clamp hurt, and I couldn't stand up for a while without feeling sick. How bad will the tongue be compared to that? Answers from experience only please!
----------

I'd say a tongue piercing would hurt more cuz ur tongue gets all swollen and it hurts when u eat or drink @ 1st. Plus it makes u talk funny. LOLZ.

hope that helps. Good luck!  (+ info)

How bad does your tongue swell after a piercing?

I may get my tongue pierced tomorrow [hopefully] and know all of the procedures, safety tips, care issues etc but still I don't know how badly the swelling is [in most cases]. Is it like so bad you can't breathe? Or just that your tongue feels huge in your mouth? Thanks.
----------

I have mine done. It doesn't swell that bad actually. It makes you have a little lisp but thats just about it. Don't worry its not like going to effect anything. Your tounge feels bigger than usually but thats it. After the swelling goes down your definiatly want to get a smaller barbell because it will hit your roof of your mouth. they give you a big on just because the swelling.
I have had mine pierced for about 4 years now. Sometimes when I sleep with my mouth open, it swells around the ball but nothing big. Its normal to do that. Good luck.
And don't worry... It don't hurt.
I have 10 piercings!  (+ info)

What do you think a tongue piercing implies?

Well, ive recently been thinking about getting a tongue piercing and ive asked around and most people seem to associate them with oral sex and how it can heighten pleasure etc. I really didnt see them like that and i just thought it would be something pretty cool that i could play with. What are your views? When you see someone with a tongue piercing do you just think of oral sex? Im at a loss, because this is not something i want to be viewed as.
----------

You can ask any honest guy, and they will tell you that that's what they first think of.
Guys get it for oral sex too.
I've thought about getting it because it does look pretty cool, I agree, but I reconsidered.
Many people say "I don't care what others think"- that may be true, BUT once people think bad things about you, they treat you differently.
Honestly, everyone cares about how they are treated.  (+ info)

How can I hide a tongue piercing from my parents?

I'm thinking of getting my tongue pierced this weekend because my best friends dad owns a tattoo shop. But my parents think its unacceptable, I heard they make non-visible tongue rings.
----------

Don't do the tongue ring thing.. It's passé and does nothing for pleasure but cold metal against his naughty bits. Try a belly button ring or if you already have one, a new ear piercing (cartilege, industrial, don't do plugs, it looks like crap).  (+ info)

How long after getting your tongue pierced will the swelling set in?

I just got my tongue pierced and I took a motrin before I went and then about 15m inutes later had cold water with ice in it to drink over an hour. And my tongue is not sore and has not swollen any. I am wondering if it will still swell a large amount later and if the peak swelling is a few hours or days later?

What does a whitish tongue with red spots mean?

I have been ill for the last three weeks now. Because of air conditions in my apartment, I came down with bronchitis: I was coughing, choking on mucus in my lungs, running a low temperature, short of breath, wheezing, and generally achy and sick.

I went to the doctor and received a Z pack, an inhaler, and cough syrup to combat the bronchitis. While on these medications, I felt better, but after they ran out, I started getting sick again.

Yesterday I woke up and my mouth was very sore. I have several canker sores along my gum lines and my tongue is covered in red spots. There is a white film on my tongue that, even with scrubbing and tongue brushing, will not come off. Also, my tongue is swollen and my throat hurts enough I can barely swallow. Eating hard foods, like cookies, is impossible and I can barely handle more than soup.

Is this related to my bronchitis? What on earth could be wrong with me?
The air conditioner is not what is causing the bronchitis, it is the air conditions. The apartments have difficulty controlling bugs, so they spray pesticides weekly. Also, they have a swamp cooler instead of an air conditioner, which, in a humid area like DC, is rife with mold, mildew, and bacteria. I have been to a specialist who believes that, like smoking, pollutants in the air are what caused my original condition. Also, studies show that pesticides make you more susceptible to COPD, of which one symptom is frequent bronchitis episodes.
----------

First off, being in air conditioning does not give you bronchitis. Only pathogens can give you an infection. If antibiotics do not take care of the infection, then it is not caused by bacteria. You may be infected by a virus or a fungus, most likely yeast. The symptoms you describe in your mouth could be 1). caused by the uneccessary antibiotics the doc gave you just to get you out of his office, or 2). by whatever pathogen(s) that are causing the original problem.

Yes, you must go see the doc again. Remind him/her of the last round of antibiotics. Ask for supportive care only and/or antifungals.  (+ info)

How do I convince my mom to let me get my tongue pierced?

Yesterday I was telling my mom that I want to get my cartilidge pierced, or my tongue pierced. She said cartlidge was okay, but there was no way I would be allowed to get my tongue pierced while I was living at home. The tongue piercing was the one I wanted most. I'm 20, technically I don't need her permission. But knowing her, if I do it she will find way to make my life miserable. I told her that it takes less time to heal, and that really no one can even see it unless you show them. I asked about a tattoo, and she said she thinks girls with tattoos look cheap and trashy. I really want my tongue pierced, how can I get her to say yes?
----------

Get her some factual information about it and ask her to read it. You could also tell her about someone she respects that has their tongue pierced, if you can think of anyone. Don't nag about it, but keep bringing it up every week or so, so she knows it's not just a whim, but you really want it.
I think it's great that you don't want to go against your mom :-)  (+ info)

Can my tongue piercing get infected if i drink alcohol after pierced?

My girlfriend is getting her tongue pierced for her birthday this Friday. So so wants to drink alcohol that night after her tongue is freshly pierced. So my question is would it get infected if she drinks alcohol a few hours after her tongue gets pierced or should she wait till the next day?
----------

no alcohol should not affect it. Alcohol is actually used to clean wounds. But, she should stay away from beer or drinks with yeast because they have been known to cause yeast infections in tongue piercings. That would be nasty.  (+ info)
