Can anyone help me with my tennis elbow problem?

I have a pain in my elbow, I'm pretty sure it's a condition called tennis elbow. I saw my doctor at my check-up and told him about it. He asked if I was icing it and I said "yes." He didn't really say anything else about it. I had this problem twice in the past but it didn't last long both times. This time it seems like it's here to stay. Does anyone know any exercises or anything that will help it heal without me decreasing my physical activity? I've already looked in Wikipedia and read over that page. Thanks a lot.

First of all a chiropractor will do nothing for lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow). A couple things you need to focus on:
-gentle stretching of your wrist extensors (hold your arm straight out in front of you palm down, elbow straight, and bend your hand down using pressure from the other hand on the back of the hand on the injured side...hold 30 seconds)
-ice massage (fill a paper cup up with water and freeze it, then peel back part of the cup to expose some ice and rub the ice on the painful area for 4-5 mins until numb...its gonna be uncomfortable, but must get to be numb)
-over the counter anti-inflammatory such as advil, aleve taken as directed on the bottle
-physical therapy can help you build up the strength in the wrist muscles, especially the eccentric strength.
-tennis elbow strap that can be purchased online to stabilize the area and take the stress off the tendon origin.  (+ info)

When you get tennis elbow, what happens to the elbow area?

I play badminton and my elbow pains, after laying off for two days it's pain free. But does it cause muscle strain or tendon strain, bone deterioration? Because the pain is back again. What could I use to keep it at bay, the racket is quite light so no problem there.
Without drugs I mean. Like ice pack, heat compress, arm band, anything like that.

it is stress on the tendon. you could have tendonitis either way just ice 15-20 minutes every day. You can also wear a band on the forearm that has has a little part in it that sticks out on the inside that applies pressure to the spot that hurts and makes it not hurt as much. you can buy those at jewel walgreens dicks sports authority etc. I agree without drugs i dont like taking pain relievers.  (+ info)

Can someone describe the difference in how tennis elbow and a hyperextended elbow feel?

I hurt my elbow awhile ago. I think it's a hyperextended elbow, since the pain is in the same spot where I did it once before. But I also had tendinitis in the same wrist that keeps crawling up the arm. I'm curious if the two injuries are easy to differentiate.
----------

Tennis elbow is felt in the elbow, not the wrist, and usually on the lateral side. A hyperextended elbow will cause pain in the back of the elbow, and may radiate down into the forearm.

Tennis elbow is more of a dull achy pain, while a sharper pain will be felt from a hyperextended elbow because there is likely to be damage to the bone in the area.  (+ info)

What does carpul tunnel or tennis elbow feel like?

Since I went back to work 2 months ago from having a baby, my right arm has been killing me. I'm right handed and work in a headlight factory so I used drivers all day long. It never bothered me much before but now my arm really hurts. Sometimes in the bicep area and sometimes in the forearm or elbow area. Not same place all the time. It hurts the most at night, not so much during the day or while in use, just mostly at night and when I first get up in the morning.

i had the surgery of both hands for carpal tunnel..my fingers had gone numb..so i think you may have the tennis elbow but definitely get it checked out..good luck  (+ info)

Why go to a chiropractor for tennis elbow?

How does cracking your neck, back, wrist, elbow and fingers help a tendon injury? Can somebody explain this to me?
----------

All the muscles, nerves and tendons in your arm are controlled by the nerves that come out between your neck bones. They in turn affect the should function and the elbow function.
"Tennis" elbow almost never comes from a problem in the elbow. That's why medical rates of success treating it are so low, and the next time the person overdoes it it just comes right back.
A good Chiropractor can treat all the areas affected, and the true cause of the problem, which even though that's where you feel pain, is not where it's beginning.  (+ info)

How long would it take for Tennis Elbow to turn in to Tendinits?

I have two weeks left of my volleyball season, and I don't want to rest it until the season is over. Will I get tendinitis before season is over?
----------

It's the same thing, essentially.
Just get an air brace for it. You can find them at any local drug store, and most grocery stores.
It's a small velcro-ish band that goes around your arm right below the elbow and doesn't keep you from playing.
Check it out. It's worked for me at least 10 times and helps me stay active through the pain.
Also, pop a few Bayer aspirin tablets.

As for time to heal, it ranges.  (+ info)
