Has anyone with vasovagal syncope ever gotten a tattoo, and not faint?

I've been wanting a specific tattoo that is relavent to my family history for the past 5 years, but I have a condition called vasovagal syncope. I have obviously never had a tattoo, and was wondering if it is even possible to get a tattoo with this condition. If anyone has this condition and has had a tattoo, could they tell me how it went? I really want to know, because I don't know anyone who has this condition.
----------

you would have to discuss it with your artist since your disorder causes fainting spells at the sight of blood it doesn't seem like a good idea to get one. Tattoos can bleed no matter where you get them.  (+ info)

describe the hemodynamic changes that would explain vasovagal syncope?

this is a question in my lab that i have to do and i have nooo idea what to put :/ the whole question is: Vasovagal syncope is a condition in which severe pain or fright activates the parasympathetic nervous system instead of the sympathetic nervous system, resulting in fainting. Keeping in mind that the parasympathetic system causes a response opposite to that of the sympathetic system, describe the hemodynamic changes that would explain this.

Is getting out of a tub a common cause of vasovagal syncope?

I had just gotten home so i decided to take a very hot bath, so i was sitting. When i went to get out i began to come very dizzy, my vision faded to black and i could feel something in my ears, then i lost consciousness for what felt like a while. when i woke up from fainting i did not feel well. Is what happened to me vasovagal syncope, or a common cause of it?
----------

I have had episodes of vasovagal syncope. However, I have never had an episode after sitting in hot water. I think it is normal for this to happen because hot water will expand your blood vessels which could result in less blood being pumped to your brain and therefore would result in dizziness and possible fainting. Once you have fainted, there is always a period of not feeling well which can last from a few minutes to a few hours.
My vasovagal episodes are more related to drawing of blood or being involved in upsetting situations which trigger a drop in blood pressure and subsequent dizziness or fainting.  (+ info)

does this have to do with vasovagal syncope?

everyonce in a while, my heart flutters-is this normal?

also, i have vasovagal syncope, so when im hurt or stand for too long, I somtimes pass out. recently, i have been doing something, and i feel like i just passed out. its only for like a second but i dont remember what i did, and i somehow a feeling hits me...i dont know how to explain it. but it feels like i passed out for one second

is this normal?
----------

As far as I understand it, vasovagal syncope is caused by an inadequate baroreceptor (pressure sensors in your arteries) response to shifts in postural position (laying to standing) such that you can't maintain perfusion pressure to the brain (aka postural hypotension). Feeling this way after standing for a long time sounds like something else... see your doc.  (+ info)

How can I get over my vasovagal syncope in Health class?

I am going to be a sophomore this year and I have health for the first semester. What triggers my nausea and fainting spells are usually when someone is describing a medical condition or something. Even last semester when my teacher was teaching CPR, I threw up and had to go home. Is there anyone else who has this? Are there any tips that would be good for helping me during this situation or to get my mind off of it at the time?

Thank you soooo much!

I used to have this same thing! One cause was seeing blood, as in graphic abortion films and stuff that they made us watch back then. One was that I was underweight at that time and my blood pressure was very low; in VVS, it plummets even lower and you faint. Another was a too-warm room! So try not to get overheated, especially. Even as an adult, I was fainting when standing up out of a hot bath, because my blood pressure would drop so precipitously. Try putting a cold cloth or ice on your forehead, temples or the back of your neck. And you may just have to avoid gruesome sights and subjects altogether. Some people are just squeamish.
I kind of grew out of it, literally, as I am overweight now and blood pressure is high. But I wouldn't recommend that avenue! Good luck.  (+ info)

Does Vasovagal Syncope mean I have heart problems?

I was recently diagnosed with Vasovagal Syncope which is a fainting disorder. Ive been googling what exactly it is and it doesnt say anything about my heart however my moms friend who is an RN said it means I have some sort of heart problem. Is this true? And what kind of heart problem? And do I need to be on medication? I dont trust my moms friend and the doctors are closed right now so im just curious if anyone knows for sure. Thanks and god bless.
----------

Your mom's friend is wrong.

Vasovagal syncope just means that system that slows the heart is a little too sensitive. In a normal person, the heart rate slows, but the body adjusts to the lower BP. In your case, you faint before the adjustment occurs.

Medication is rarely needed.  (+ info)

Is it safe to have elective surgery if you have vasovagal syncope?

I have had fainting spells due to giving blood, emotional startles, etc...And in a month I am having elective surgery and I am wondering if it is safe for me to go under? And if not why? and if it is okay, how can I prepare?
----------

it should not interfere in any way with the safety of the surgery, but be sure to tell the anesthesiologist, whom you will see prior to surgery, that you have this tendency.  (+ info)

Is it safe to go on rollercoasters when you have vasovagal syncope?

Hi, Can anybody tell me whether it is safe to go on a roller-coaster if you have vasovagal syncope. I black out or faint about 90% of the time when I stand up from sitting, and I have also fainted from exhaustion, stress, heat, claustrophobia, etc... I have been on roller-coasters before with this condition, but not since its been this bad...should I risk it? I'm 17 and female if this helps? Regards :)
----------

It's probably not the greatest idea. It's not really so much dangerous [since you're strapped in and can't fall down and hurt yourself] as an annoyance for you.

You probably will pass out at some point, since your compensatory mechanisms sound weak, and then they might freak out and call 911 on ya.

If you do get on, know ahead of time that you'll probably be passing out at some point during the ride.

God bless.  (+ info)
