How to deal with morning sickness and work?

I'm about 5 and 1/2 weeks pregnant and i'm working cashier at walmart...I am violently sick every day all day with "morning" sickness and I am at a loss..I've tried everything I can think of but I'm miserable. I can't quit my job or call in to work. Any suggestions?
----------

UUGHHH. First of all, let me say poor you. I worked through my "all day sickness" and I felt like I was going to lose my mind it was so bad. I tried everything. I went through several phases of remedies to help. First I tried the saltines/ ginerale, then I found that eating/sucking on lemon wedges really helped for a little bit (not good for my teeth though) preggie pops were okay, then I got a prescription for Zofran which was a miracle worker. It was like I was human again. But about after a week or so my body got used to it and I only took it when I got really bad.

I take 1/2 a tablet of unisom and vit b6 which really helps lessen the symptoms throughout the next day. (doesn't take it away completely). I am still taking it at night. It helps with sleeping and without it I feel terrible the next day. I had to constantly be eating something easy on my stomach. Nothing greasy or spicy. Protein and starch are good like crackers and cheese, or apples and peanut butter. Having the protein really can help. Also, it may sound bad, but a little diet coke really helped with the nausea too.

It took a lot of experimenting to find what worked best for me. Ive had it throughout my entire pregnancy to varing degrees. And now that Im in my 3rd trimester, its more intense but not nearly as bad as before.

Take heart, it will eventually get a little better. It really is SO HARD to deal with. If it is too early to tell anyone at work, try to deal with it the best you can. I had to tell a coworker around 7 weeks, because I felt like I had to explain why I was so sick all the time. It was nice to have someone who could offer some support and backup. But be careful who you tell, word can spread fast if you don't want to tell your boss yet.  (+ info)

During what time of ur pregnancy did u start getting morning sickness?

I turned 3 months today and so far no morning sickness. I'm wondering if later on during my pregnancy if I'm going to get any sickness? When did u start getting morning sickness?
----------

It's more common during the first trimester b/c of all the new hormones, etc. surging through your body. It depends on the individual, not to mention genetics, as to what will or won't happen to you, because no two pregnancies (even with the same person) are alike. You may be one of those lucky ducks that doesn't have to worry about sacrificing to the porcelain god in the mornings or, like me, yakking in your partner's grandmother's front yard as he holds your hair back and asks desperately, "What can I do to help?" Lol! But back to the question...

For me, it was like Wile E. Coyote, as soon as I realized I was pregnant I got all kinds of symptoms like a tender tummy and nausea. If you are already into your second trimester, then odds are you shouldn't have any. Some women have it throughout their pregnancies, so it isn't impossible to get it later on, but I think you'll be fine. And even without the nausea there are PLENTY of other wonderful things to experience (like round ligament pain, for example) that you'll be glad that you got excused from this one. :) Congrats!  (+ info)

What has worked for you to relieve morning sickness?

My sister is pregnant with her first baby (Yay!). She is having terrible morning sickness, and the traditional remedies like crackers and ginger ale don't seem to help much. I didn't have morning sickness myself so I don't know what to tell her. Has anyone tried anything unique that worked?

Biobands worked wonders for me. They are just pressure point wristbands. A lot of cancer patients and soon to be mothers use them, my doctor recomended them.  (+ info)

Is there any ways to reduce excessive forehead sweating?

I tend to sweat alot, but mainly on my forehead. I notice when I'm around other people during warm weather, my forehead would start to sweat, when others seem to be fine. Even in 100 degrees temps, Im just pouring down sweat, when everyone is relaxed. My body is fine, just normal sweating, but its always my forehead. I drink enough fluids and hydrate frequently. Any sorta vitamins or remedies out there to slow it down or to stop it?
----------

My mom read an article that said people can use anti-perspirant on their forehead for extreme sweating. She was telling me that because I have the same problem. Should we try it?  (+ info)

What are the symptoms of morning sickness?

I have been feeling sick since about 12:00am it just came on really quick. I am extremely dizzy and have a horrible stomach ache but I haven't thrown up. And dizzyness isn't usually a sign of morning sickness is it? I am just wondering because my period didn't come this month, but I also couldn't afford my birth control this month so that could why I don't have my period. I just don't know why I would be so sick.

For any of you suffer from morning sicknesses or simply having tough time trough your pregnancy.
There is a fantastic technique I not too long ago start utilizing and I really recommend it.

It's all natural, no pain whatsoever; work rapidly and very simple to learn.
Let me tell you a little secret: you don't have to suffer out of your pregnancy.

Just learn more about it.

What is the best vitamin to take to prevent sickness?

Last semester I stayed sick everyday. I am either around students or I am being stressed by my classes (which makes my sickness even worse) What is the best vitiamin to prevent sickness?Should I take a multi-vitamin or a certain vitamin?
----------

stress will lower your immune system so... try to DE stress if at all possible with yoga or a nice walk- a good book etc... a diet in live foods (via salads and fruits) uncooked are best fighter of bad guys-- but if you can't get enough of that in you - garlic is a great anti viral- and can be purchased in tablet form-- elderberry is good also--- Vita c and zinc- a good multi + garlic pill-- lotsssssss of fresh water- and be careful of what you put on your skin as well- parabens are a no no as are sodium laurel sulfates- check the ingredients- if you won't put it in your body don't put it on your skin!!! wash your hands frequently!!!! I have a friend who swears by airborne- maybe when there is a bad case of the sickies you could supplement with that---olive leaf extract is great - there are so many that help the immune system-- but you could not and should not take them all --- read up on the ones you like and try them-- be careful like anything they have side affects- garlic will thin your blood so if you have high blood pressure you would not want to take it---  (+ info)

How do I prevent getting altitude sickness?

I love to ski and am planning a trip to Copper Mountain for mid January. I almost always get altitude sickness when I go unless I ascend very slowly. I'm not talking just headaches and shortness of breath. I get extremely sick. I won't have much time to ascend this year. Is there a prescription I can get or should I try to get my hands on an oxygen tank? I know I'll get it if I don't take some preventative measure.

Are there any cures for motion sickness besides medications that cause drowsiness?

I would like to enjoy my regular trips to amusement parks and ride anything without getting motion sickness. Is there a cure or alternative remedy? Home remedies without meds? Its usually the rides that twist, revolve, flip, or go backwards.
----------

I think they're made for a gentler motion, but you could try sea bands. They're little bracelets you wear on your pressure points at the wrist, and are supposed to be really good for travelers, who don't want to use dramamine. You can get them in the same aisle with the dramamine, and they're only a couple of bucks.

When do the symptoms of morning sickness start?

I just found out that I am pregnant but I don't feel anything like morning sickness. I do get a little nauseous but no vomiting.
----------

Nausea is one of the first signs of pregnancy and is very common in the early stages. It starts somewhere between the fourth and sixth week of pregnancy and is therefore one of the first pregnancy signs. For most women, morning sickness will disappear by the 14th to 16th week. Some women experience NVP throughout their entire pregnancy. There are several factors at play including pregnancy hormones and higher sensitivity to odors.  (+ info)

How do you deal with morning sickness when commuting to work?

I have just starting feeling morning sickness and am getting worried about the journey to work. I am lucky in that I drive to work so I can pull over if I need to, but does anyone have a plan in case it comes about all of a sudden?
----------

I am on vacation right now but I have thought of it and I made little plan for myself. It sometimes hits when I am out and about so it is useful for that, too. I keep my little emergency bag in my purse. I took a small makeup case and filled it with a plastic bag, mouth wash (travel size), and wipees (travel size). I was thinking maybe I should carry a small snack bag of crackers, too. So far I have not needed it but it makes me feel good that I am prepared.

If you don't like the idea of mouth wash, Colgate also has these little disposable toothbrushes that freshen your breath called Wisps. They are are very small and don't require water. I was thinking about switching to those.  (+ info)
