How do I get rid of itchyness from a sunburn?

So I've had no problems with my sunburn since I got it on Sunday, besides that whole burning when moving, or touching, but today at about 2:00 I began to get strong itching feelings on my upper back and shoulders, where the sunburn is. I've tried everything from cold compresses to anti-itch spray, te spray has taken the edge off, but hasn't really helped, any ideas?
----------

If you put on some aloe vera it'll help with the burning, itching, etc. sensations. I have this green kind that's a mix between sunscreen/aloe vera. It'll also be good if you wear it everytime you go out in the sun! :]  (+ info)

How long does it take for sunburn blisters to appear?

I got pretty crispy today, which is fine because I was being dumb and not wearing sunblock. (I know, I should have, I'll get skin cancer, whatever) My lower back is really pink. If a sunburn is going to blister, how long does it take for the blisters to appear? I was in the sun probably for two and a half ish hours. It's five hours later and I have no sign of blistering at this point.
----------

Anywhere from 6-48hrs typically. I usually blister about 6-12hrs later but I've had them show up about 48hrs later before.  (+ info)

4 days ago I got a sunburn on my stomach and chest. Half of it does not hurt anymore. The half that does not hurt is not peeling nor turning back to its natural color. How long will it take to turn back?

It depends, which part of your body, and how much it is burnt. It usually takes months. It changes back to the colour progressively.  (+ info)

How do I avoid blistering with a sunburn?

I got back from the beach a while ago, and I have a medium-bad sunburn. It's all over the upper part of my body and my face.

Now, I think I might develop some blisters. What are some remedies to stop this?
----------

Once the blistering starts, it just dosen't stop. One thing that you can do to help is take Benadryl. Sunburn is a histamine reaction of the skin, Benadryl is an antihistamine, and helps to prevent some of the symptoms associated with sunburn. The next time you know you are going to be exposed to the sun long enough to possibly cause a burn, take Benadryl prior to exposure. The side effects are listed on the package, and, it definitely does cause drowsiness. You definitely don't want to take it if you are drinking alcoholic beverages or are on medication where the side effects also include drowsiness. Another thing you can do at this time, even with the blisters, is gently dab vinegar soaked clothes , such as a washcloth, on the blistered areas. Be aware that you could potentially develop a condition known as sun poisoning, where the sunburn is severe, and you may have a headache, nausea and vomiting. In that event, see a doctor.  (+ info)

How do you get rid of a sunburn tan line?

I have a really bad sunburn tan line from my shoulders down from playing tennis yesterday and I need it to go away. So since it's a tanktop tan line, tanning is out of the question.
----------

Try a self tanner! Those come in handy.

What you should do to prevent and fix the little issue, is to wear sunscreen and reapply every hour. You're a guy right, do you have to wear a shirt? lol, odd question, but if you're wearing sunscreen and you don't have any clothing coverage, it will gradually tan the other areas that were not exposed while gradually lightly tanning you all over.

For me anyways, if I get a bad/odd tan line, it fades away by wearing sunscreen and changing the shirt so the previously unexposed areas get some sun.

*Wear sunscreen all over* This won't happen again if you do.

If you want to try a self-tanner, I would recommend Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer. It gradually tans your skin and creates a natural glow so it doesn't look stupid and fake. (They also have a version for your face as well).

Good luck!  (+ info)

How to make a sunburn turn into a tan & how to make the sunburn stop hurting?

I used to tan very well - my skin would turn instantly a nice brownish shade, but for some reason, lately whenever I'm tanning, my skin becomes red, turns into a sunburn and hurts. I'm interested to find out ways to treat this problem.
----------

Stay out of the sun for a few days. The red will turn into a bronze if you apply tons of moisturizer and don't get your skin to peel. The next time you go out use SUNSCREEN. For Sunburn use Bactine if it's really bad see your Dr. and get a prescription for silvadene cream.  (+ info)

How long does it take for a sunburn to stop itching?

I got a severe sunburn on Memorial day and the reddness is gone and the skin has quit peeling but it still itches like crazy. How long til the torture is over? What can help stop the itching?
----------

Days. Best advice is, don't ever get a sunburn.
Having said that, there are some medications that help with itching, especially at night. These would be anti-histamines like Benadryl. Take 50 - 75 mg. of Benadryl (aka diphenhydramine) at bedtime, and it will help you to sleep through it. Expect to be hung over in the morning, though. Another remedy (but harder to get) is lidocaine or benzocaine spray. This remedy only works for 20 minutes or so. Ice packs can help, as can a wet towel under a fan. Good luck.  (+ info)
